Just purchased a 2000 2500 6spd with 70k on the odo. I knew before buying that the 24v has a problem with the fuel pump.

Am I correct in understanding that the lift pump is located too far away, too low, and the plumbing is too restrictive to make the actual fuel flow efficient?

If so, with such low mileage would I be safe in getting a FASS system? Will this alone solve my possible future issues?

Where is a good place to buy one with good cust svc for my many newbie ?'s????

Thanks!

Your mostly right. The factory pump is actually mounted to HIGH. The pumps working better pushing fuel, not pulling it. When mounted on the engine, they have to draw the fuel out of the tank and all the way up to the engine. Your right about the bulk of the system being to restrictive too. The heat and vibration doesn't help either.

As for the FASS system, lots of guys have them and it seems like a quality product. Will it solve future issues? Most likely, yes, but it depends on how much power you plan on making. Theres lot of options for a lift pump. Theres FASS, AirDog, the stock pump with a Vulcan Performance relocation kit to mount it near the tank, one of the GlacierDiesel kits, a Holley Blue pump... . the list goes on and on. I myself am trying to decide between a FASS system or an AirDog system. I'm attracted to them mainly for the added fuel filtration.
