Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2000 6-speed died on the road

Neighbor called and told me his 00 six speed just quit on him without warning, trouble codes, nothing. Had it towed to the house and I did the key trick only to find the companion code P1693. I'll get the scanner on it later and post what code I can actually find. It had 15 psi fuel pressure from the lift pump, the tachometer is registering rpms when cranking but I'm not getting any fuel out of the VP44. Any thoughts? I'm already guessing an injector pump.

Just for grins, check the return line regulator from the VP. If only it was so simple. Good luck.

Retrieved a code that basically said open circuit between the VP44 and Ecm. Looks like he'll be ordering a pump asap tomorrow.

Have him test the VP before ordering. The test eliminates all the electronics.

Pumps on the way, 1188. 00 + core of 400. 00. Best part is, I'm going to drink beer while he changes his own pump.

A short time later, the truck had stalling fits. Nothing like before because it would always restart. New crank pos sensor and all is well. Man it was a pita to get out though.

actually you should try the cam sensor that is twice as hard as the crank, did he put a lift pump on?
