I'm looking at a 2000 ram quad cab with a short box & I got under the truck to check the block number... On the side of the engine it had a 55 on it. . My question is is a 55 Block a good number to have or is it prone to problems like the 53. . I posted this under here because the guy needs to know ASAP if im still intrested in the truck. . Also when I test drove the truck, it wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear, and when I got back they put it on the computer & said the solinoids in the transmission went bad. . Could this cause it not to shift. . The only time I could get it to shift was when I mess around w/ the throttle a little bit... Then once it shifted it shifted great through the rest of the gears...

How can you easily & quickly check the fp when I take it out after the transmission is fixed monday evening?

If I were you I'd find a local person with a gauge to hook up to the test port on the VP ON THE DEALERS LOT. That way if the LP is bad you won't be stuck on road. You need to have a gauge with a 0 to 30 range NO MRE THAN THAT. Look at the link 2nd item down. This is a really good one. http://www.protintnw.com/sa_dodge-fuel.htm Maybe a local diesel power shop might have something like it. The dealer has a FP gauge but the range is too great wont show what we need for our trucks. If dealer wont let you check it this way WALK AWAY and don't look back. DON'T belive the dealer that the flow test is all you need. BTW My 1st LP went south at 36. 6K and they have had problems with the 2000 LP's. I'd also go though the TSB's and find out what else might be wrong too. Best of luck to you.

The auto's are VERY much $$$$ to bomb the transmission the right way when you add power. :-laf
