Allison conversion help

you could probably put it in a 1st gen, but you would need a 261 or 263 simply because of a sensor in the tailshaft of the case that the transmission computer needs.

What is a 261 or 263

I am new to all this and am learning. I think it would be awesome to put an Allison behind my 1st gen but I don't know what a 261 or 263 is.

261 is the manual transfer case that comes stock on the newer Duramax with the allison behind it. 263 is the electronic shift version

Are you using a 1000 from a Dmax and tcase? or a different model 1000 adapted to a dmax tcase? A dmax 1000 doesent have a sae bolt patern bell housing its a chevy pattern. Will I be able to switch the bell from another allison to go to the sae engine plate? Just want to make sure I buy the right transmission.

not sure about that, I was told that they used one out of a duramax, with an SAE 3 bellhousing and the duramax transfer case.

I have over 20k on the swap now and it has been awesome. I love everything about it. It shifts great, the ratios are perfect and I have yet to slip it.

tell me this. is the rear output sensor that is needed for the trans computer located in the tailshaft of the transmission, or the transfer case?

So how is it there is an application for an Atlas transfer case on Advance Adapters website? By the way GMac, are you Gabe on the DTR? That is one tempting conversion...

It's Advance Adapters website because the genius' at extreme 4x4 tv put one behind an allison and it physically bolts up. So they figured they start selling them to all kinds of people.

If they would finish that urban gorilla. . whatever project, they'd realize that the first time they shift it into lo range it goes limp :D

That is unless they rigged the speed sensor up before the T-cases.

I've done a dodge 12 valve that way. . Just ran a divorced NP205.

Works well, but it sucks having a divorced case, IMO.

Brayden

Destroked.com makes and sells kits to run Allison transmissions. He fabricates various transmission to engine adapter plates and is a dealer for PCS to wire and control the transmission. Contact Scott, he can make it happen.

You bedder call PCS before buying the adapter,... ... Unless sumtin has changed since Feb. 12 (last week) when I talked to Dan at PCS, They have no product to shift the 1000 yet.

Interesting. PCS told me a year ago that they had trucks running them for a long time but weren't selling them yet. They said it worked but was complex for users to program, that they were just trying to simplify.

He said there workin' on it but still haven't released anything.

I have a Freightliner setup with a 24v / Allison 1000 (Tader Chip Truck) that I might put in my F-450 if I can't get my 4r100 to shift the way i want it. Been messin' with the 4r100 for a year now. #@$%!

I'm not likin' the ideal of a 24v under my hood and would like to go the 12v route. Glad someone is figgeren this out. I keep a eye on this thread and the one on the DTR. Shesh,... . 20 sumtin pages!!!!

Then remote mount a 205

Found out i didn't need the PCS transmission controller for my 4R100 behind the 12 valve. Still gets the VSS input and shifts by speed. Works even better shifting it with the manual lever, which is how i shifted the PSD anyway. Might hook up the MAP sensor off the boost gauge so it has a load input.
