Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2000 has a Fuel leak......... from return line?

I have a fuel leak once the truck starts, its slow to start. Dealer can't be sure the parts I need are what they show in the schematic. If they are wrong I still have to buy them. Took a few pics with a
drop light. Tight spot above the starter, behind the water filter and lift pump? Line comes up from DS frame, plastic shrunk on steel with rubber encasing, unless previous owner cobbled it over the
top. Wouldn't be surprised with what I've found since purchasing the truck. I changed all the power steering lines, pump and gear box and on start up fuel was running onto the floor. Unbelievable
right? Anyway the dealer thinks #4 is the line but he doesn't know how long it is and he thinks a #29 Tee is needed and I'm not sure if #7 is the rusty piece of pipe/tube. The last pic is for reference, the other steel fuel line on the frame is this one and this is where it goes, lift pump right? I Obviously can't drive it right now. Any ideas on how to fix this properly, and where to get the right stuff?

Please provide the truck or engine serial number and I'll put up the Cummins parts illustrations. Maybe be easier to interpret and you will be able to buy them from Cummins cheaper as long as they were on the engine when it was shipped to Dodge PLUS I doubt that you would get any grief returning any wrong lines.

It's hard to tell from the photos, but, if it is leaking from one of the quick disconnect Dorman type fittings, you can get the plastic insert from an auto parts store. Mine was leaking at the "y" down from the back of the head. Replaced the insert, all was good.

The dealer suggested I call Cummins direct also. I think the pipe looks so corroded I'm not sure a new insert would halt the leak. This is pretty much at the back of the head just rear of the starter and it goes up out of sight behind the head it looks like. I've got a drive on lift going to get it over
onto the lift and get in there.

Got ahold of a guy at Cummins, ordered everything on that list mwilson plus two pics showing how it came apart. Im taking my time on that fuel line fitting.

You may be able to get a replacement quick connect fitting at an auto parts store. Just bought some when I changed the in-tank fuel pump on my Yukon. Take that new Cummins line with you so you can test the fit.

My 02 had this issue, hard to get at, do yourself a favor if you don't want to spend a bunch of money at the dealer. Crawl under the drivers side and just under the door cut the line off and run rubber fuel line. Low pressure so no problem. That works just fine and cost about 10 bucks at most
