The local dealer here has a used '01 2500 cummins diesel on the lot. I am strongly thinking about buying this truck and was wondering if anyone can help me with the average longevity of the engine and automatic transmission on this unit. I see there is a "Banks" switch in the cab, good or bad... I dont know.

Is there anything in particular I should be aware of besides the VP pump in this truck?

Thanks in advance.

If the transmission has not been upgraded it may give you some issues due to the added power of the Banks kit. The autos are not bad trans at stock power levels, I have 175,00 on mine with zero problems.

Take a look behind the turbo the switch may be for an exhaust brake. then look at the can bus connector to see if there is a wire plugged into it then it has a power upgrade.
