2001.5 buyers beware

New truck buyers might look out for DC marketing's disk brake subterfuge. I stopped at the dealer yesterday to see what's new, and found a 2001 (2001. 5?) with disk brakes on the rear axle. The sticker gives no hint of this, no mention of brakes at all. Until this month, the sticker stated disks/drums as standard.
Check for those disks!
Hmmm, I wonder if DC's dirty tricks dept is reading this? Maybe they will bribe me with a
new rear axle?

What's your point, we've known for months the the trucks were going to be coming out with rear disk brakes?

The disk brakes are a known addition for the . 5's. They are intentionally leaving brake info off of the sticker in order to help move the 00's, but I don't think they're trying to trick anyone... just trying to sell trucks.

Hey guys... I have a 2001 HO purchased in Apr. of this year with 4-wheel disc brakes!!!Does that mean I have a 2001. 5??? Manufacture date was March this year

That's a strange one. I ordered in mid May and almost 2 months later it showed up. Front disc, rear drums. Didn't take it. I then ordered in July and received my 4 wheel disc truck. I didn't think they started building the 4 wheel disc trucks until July.

Could be that it was built somewhere besides SL. That's just a guess though.

My truck was manufactured in March and it does not have 4 whl discs. Still drums in the rear. Built in Mexico

Mine was built south of the border in March 2001. Probably ran short of drums down there or someting???I didn't even think about it until you guys started talking about disc brakes... Mine also came with a DC taco package!! Does that mean I have a 2002 proto-type???HE HE #ad

No brakes lists on the sticker - Does that mean that they finally admit to their trucks not having very good brakes?

With or without rear disc brakes they are 2001. No such thing as a 2001. 5. I would guess no mention of the brakes would be to move the older stock. Remember 2001 until next year.
