That could be Mick. I went down to the dealer yesterday to check on my truck and the 'Fleet Manager' still doesn't know anything about disc brakes. Then when I tell him that they will have them he says if they do it will only be on the half tons, they wouldn't put them on the heavy duty trucks. He says he wouldn't have them, they wouldn't stop well enough. These guys will say anything to move a unit. I sure would like a confirmation though. We should find out soon... somehow.

4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes are listed as standard equipment on the 2001. 5 2500's. This info is on a printout that my dealer provided me when we optioned and priced my current order. The only other change I am able to identify is the optional bed liner that is available from the factory. And as mentioned previously, the sure grip option is no longer available with the 3. 54 ratio.

Yes, I went out to another dealer and saw the info they give the sales guys. The literature states;

What's new?

*Seat belt cluster lamp
*Servo-less speed control for diesel with manual tranmission
*Four-wheel disc brakes on all 2500 and 3500 models
*Four-wheel ABS standard on 2500 models
*Dynamic Rear Proportioning is standard on all 2500 and 3500 models

There are also a few new colors. He said they aren't really calling it a 2001. 5 though but rather just a 2001. Anyway, I done went and ordered one so I guess I get to start the whole waiting process all over again. My 2001 drum brake truck is supposed to be here anytime. I should be better prepared for the financial outlay in another couple of months anyway so that's my excuse for re-ordering.

It may not be true... but my dealer told me that DC works on a LIFO (Last in first out) rule. He said if he were to order me one while they were on restriction, or cleaning the bathrooms, or whatever, and Joe Blow ordered one the day that they came off restriction, that Joe's would get built and shipped first. I dont know if its true or not, but it s*$ks if it is.

Hi Guys!

FWIW I placed my order on Friday at the local dealer and he didn't think that they were taking them yet, BUT... . the computer did take it and the printout shows the following on my future 3500 ... " Pwr 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes," ... in the Standard Equipment list.

So I might as well run down the order for you... . 3500, QC, 4X4, Black & Agate Premium Cloth, SLT (I hate the pseudo leather package), ETH/DEE, LSD, 4:10's (running 19. 5's), Air Dam, Camper Special, Keyless, Fogs, Trailer Tow Mirrors (Boy I wish these were power -- still wavering here), Infinity, Steering wheel controls, Pwr Driver's seat (wish I could have gotten the dual, heated, pwr w/out leather), rear underseat storage, Tow, travel/convenience.

Let's start the count down.


P. S. -- I also noticed that you can order the under rail liner from the factory now -- but it is Line-X for me. Didn't look at the 3. 54s so I can't say there. Also, didn't check on the color availability -- sorry.

Rob, I test drove a truck with the towing mirrors and they do vibrate a little. The sales cat said they do to. I went for the regular power mirrors. Just thought I would throw that in since you said you were wavering a tad.

The new colors are Amber Fire Pearl Coat and Bright Silver Metallic. That is also listed under the "what's new", I just didn't list it. I guess while I'm at it, there are also new badges - Dodge, Sport, 4x4, Off Road. (SLT Badge is a carryover. )

went to the dealer this morning and fired up the computer and it took my order for a 3500 Q-cab 4x4. the driftwood on the 3500's was replaced with bright silver which was ok for me,,i only picked driftwood due to the fact that intense blue was not avail. on 3500's . i was hoping to see the intense blue pop up on the order screen as being avail. for the 3500 but i really like the silver. told dealer that some changes had been made to the trucks but he said no,and then they came up on the screen and he want's to know how i got info before he did. i just said the TDR !! he gave me the print out with the von# on it so now we are getting somewhere.

A computer glitch that I guess only my dealer is having. Something about a conflict with ordering the underseat storage and having carpet. Sheesh. He's going to try again tomorrow.

Congrats on the order... . here's what I learned today:

It sure looks like DC either isn't communicating with their dealers
or their dealers aren't worth a damn. I called DC to check on my order tonight. The girl at DC(Dana) told me I do NOT have a truck on order. I asked her to find out what happened to it since I had a VON on Friday 7/7. She called the sales manager at my dealer and they came up with a different VON... . DC didn't have a record of that one either. I told them they could remove the "owner communication" option off the order status sheet since they couldn't even communicate successfuly with DC. #ad
I hung up... ... I was pretty pissed. #ad
Guess I'll learn more when/if the truck arrives.

While your talking about orders here, my brother just bought a 2001 1500 that has the factory "under the rail" bed liner. His is missing the tailgate piece. Is that how they come? or should he go back to the dealer and request his tailgate piece?

DC is accepting all orders now. The cleaver dealers had started stacking up the orders as soon as the 7th of July. I was told production will start the week of the 25th but, who knows for sure.

I went to my 5 star dealer today to buy a 3500. They don't have what I want is stock or anywhere in the area. I said fine order me one. He said
"can't order anymore 2001 but July 20 I can order a 2002" They don't have a clue about the disk brakes or any thing else. Is the 2001. 5 an official designation?
I am going back Friday to order a truck and see what the story is then. I can't get two dealers to agree on anything. All I want to do is order a damn truck. If they don't get their stuff all in one sock, the Fords might start looking better. (OK i'm back, temporary insanity)
Also, went for a test drive on the interstate, wanted to check the rpm's at different speeds in third and OD.
Got back and ask how long to let it cool before shutdown.

I'd guess they are correct on the first build dates but you CAN order your truck. I'd say your dealers are ill-informed... . just like MOST of the dealers. My 2500 just went to BX status today. My order was placed last Friday.
I don't believe the 2001. 5 is an official model designation, 2001 July build is more like it.
