Hello Guys, Can you tell me what the stock hp & torque of my 2001. 5 automatic truly is? I have an older broshure (1999) and it states that an automatic has olly 420lbs. of torque. For some strange reason my 99 v-10 would out pull my cummins

Should be 235hp and 460 lb-ft for the Autos, Flywheel of course.

Auto and 5 Speed are 235hp 460lb-ft

The HO/6 Speed is 245hp and 505lb-ft

These are the 2001 figures.

I know this is true on the 2001 Autos because I am staring at my window sticker to confirm :D

Do you know of any Redline Dealers down there? I need Redline Racing ATF and I can't find anyone in NE or IA that has it.

I take your word for it, the 2000 are autos with 440 tq, I think? not sure about the red line dealers here but I would think so and I'll check thursday and let you know. :p

The v10 dodge is a very good towing engine. Don't doubt at all that the v10 pulled as good as your CTD. Of course it uses a good bit more fuel doing it. V10's don't even get good mileage solo. We have v10 dodge and ford in our camping club and they keep up very well. Just stop for fuel very often.

My 2000 auto was 215hp/420 ft lbs,my dad's 2001 was 235/460ft lbs. You can really feel the difference, the 2001 is noticeably stronger.

dodger22,

215/420 is stock flywheel. I had mine dynoed at Cummins right after the goodies and they came back with 211 RW:( They told me though that they had to shut it down because they were afraid it would come off the rollers. The mechanic came back with a big grin on his face and said "alright what do you have in this thing". I told him and he told me that he would have to get this for his CTD:D

Ditto on the V10 pulling power comment. My friend here at work has a V10 and pulls a large fifth-wheel camping trailer with it. It does have a great amount of power, but his only complaint is that his fuel mileage completely and totally BLOWS.

He's getting about 8-9 MPG empty, and 6-7 MPG towing. One of his buddies has a Cummins RAM, and tows a similarly-sized fifth wheel trailer on trips. When they travel together, my friend had to stop for gas two or three times to the single fill-up of the diesel truck. The fillups were so often that he opted for a 55 gallon Transfer-Flo auxilliary tank in the bed, just ahead of his fifth wheel hitch. With 85 gallons of usable fuel capacity on-board, he can go the same distance as his CTD buddy with 30.
