I am in need of some help with my 01 Dodge. I am new to the forum and TDR, but have enjoyed reading and learning. Now it's my turn to post. I haven't done any mods to the truck except relocate lift pump. Here is the situation.

Truck ran great one day, next day it wouldn't start. No Buss. Can't pull codes because I get a data link error reading on my reader/scanner. Truck does run if I hot wire the lift and injection pump.

I have checked the gauge cluster and everything checks out ok except for the WTS light does not light. Reading the manual it says to replace cluster if that happens. I don't want to replace the cluster only to find out it is something else. All voltages at the cluster connectors check out fine. I have pulled connectors, pulled and cleaned grounds (most if not all of them... . they have hidden some really well!)

The truck has been maintained on everything at recommended intervals, has 120,000 miles and been trouble free except for one lift pump (been lucky so far). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris

Can you roll the key from "run" to off three times? This is another way to get codes. They will not read in plain text you will get a set of 4 digit numbers, wait and write them all down.

Thanks for the advice so far, but the only codes I come up with are gauge cluster codes; 920, 921, and 999. Get the No Buss message. All the gauges sweep like they are supposed to under testing, lights all light except the WTS. Checked battery cables (both - and +) and they test ok, they are clean, fusible links are good, batteries are about 6 months old, both test good, and all my voltages are good at the Fuse Box.

Thanks Big Rich! It is something in the ASD that is causing the problem. Relay tests good, bypassed the relay and the truck fired right up and drives fine except for a shifting problem. I think it is the gov solenoid according to the codes I was able to pull. DTC's in both ECM and PCM. I can't remember the code numbers right now, but when I get home I'll post them and any input would be appreciated.
