I'm psyched. After posting in this weekend on what I thought was a failing / failed lift pump, I find out that I'm flat wrong. Began the day by calling DC roadside assistance (nice folks), then the local dealer to let them know it (truck) was on the way. The flatbed arrived, we loaded my 2001 with less than 15,000 miles, then proceeded to the dealership. I handed over the recall notice for the lift pump and was assured that it would be taken care of. Fast forward six hours... Verdict: dead injection pump, yes, the $3,500 variety. What gives? I run Stanadyne every single tank, changed the fuel filter at 10,000, never had a water problem or any indication that the unit was suffering. The dealership has called DC and is waiting for the replacement pump. I'd love to know what went went wrong inside.
