I have a 2001 dodge diesel, it stumbling about 6 months ago and we replaced fuel tank module and the fuel transfer pump and it seemed to be on for around 6 weeks and started doing the same thing again, I took the truck to a diesel shop in Vegas and they replaced the fuel pump module and the fuel transfer pump again, and they replaced apps to the tune of $ 2200. 00 The truck ran fine for about month and is doing the same thing again, we replaced all the fuel filters, the truck is getting so bad that I am afraid to leave town with it. A couple days ago we did finally get a check engine light and by using the ing switch we have a code of 1693. I need some help guys, live out in the middle of nowhere and I'm stuck .

Hopefully posting in the correct forum... .

Probably time to replace ECM and\or VP44. That DTC is tough to tell exactly where the issue is unless there are companion codes. Would be worth your time to find a scanner capable of reading deeper to see if the companion code that was set will tell you more.

Went thru the same thing. Replaced LP, APPS, and ended up replacing the ECM to get the problem solved.

I had a similar issues recently. Usually purchase my fuel at Big Rig fueling stations since they move a lot of fuel. But with fuel costs so high, tried the local Arco, $. 15 cheaper. Not much longer after that, the CEL came on and serious power loss. I think the ECM governed the motor to protect from damage. Did the key trick to get the quick codes and got the general PCU P1693 and ECU 0237(Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Low). First thing that came to my mind was maybe a sensor. Before going too far with an expensive diagnosis, dumped a can of of Sea Foam in and topped off the tank. Needless to say, Sea Foam made my day. After a few miles, power came back like the truck was brand new again. 300 miles later, still running great.

Have you tried a simple fuel treatment? I usually run a can of Sea Foam about every 10 tanks but got lazy for a while. Sometimes we're blinded by the possibilities of an expensive disaster.

Good luck.

Could be what these guys are saying. But since I don't see if you are running a enhancements or not, here's something that drove me nuts last year and cost me a week in Vegas. I run one of the old VanAken's and a boost fooler. I had no codes, but the truck would stumble and then run good. It ended up being the boost fooler. Most of the week in sin city was because of a split transfer case. At least you aren't dealing with that.
