Well, I was cruising about 60mph and then attemped to accelerate. About 3 seconds later my truck made a backfire feeling and the engine shut down. All my dash lights were still on. It felt like I blew a tire. I looked in my rearview and saw a small puff of white smoke. The turbo is still intact. All gauge readings were fine. It pulled a 1693 code. I attempted to restart it after about 10 minutes. It cranked fine with no abnormal noises but it just wouldn't fire. Sounds like a new VP44 to me. What do you guys think?

I sure hope that's the problem. My first thought when I felt it go was a blown engine so now a $1500 VP job is sounding good.

$1500 is installed with my tow. That's the whole job. I don't have the time to do it myself so I'm going to pay. I've found the pumps for $1095. Can you do better than that?
