Thanks, TDR Staff

Anyone recognize this package?

Read speed via OBD-II without PCM [ISB swap]

I'm in the process of rebuilding a 2001 H1 and have a Common Rail out of a 2005 that only has 100K miles on it. I'm trying to do some research because I would like to use the hummer gauges and just get signals from the Dodge computer. I've checked the forums and posts and haven't found much information on how you can achieve this. I know there are ford and chevy conversions and it looks like they use the stock gauges. I'm just trying to find out where I can get the wiring diagrams and how people are tying these together.

Thanks for the help.

The ECM is actually a Cummin's Part. If you know the serial number of your engine (nameplate should be on the engine), you can get on Cummin's Quickserve and get the information so you can begin the crossover process. As a reminder, you will need to know what the original gauges are looking for. Have you contacted Painless to see if they have or will build the harness for you?

I'll get the number next week when we pull the motor. Don't know what the H1 is looking for but should be really easy to find out. I hadn't thought about calling painless to find out if they can make a Cummins to H1 harness. I have the harness from the truck the motor is coming out of... I was concerned with the speedo and RPM signals off the cummins. I'm assuming I'm getting a spedo signal from teh transmission and not worried about the ABS that feeds off the rear diff since i'm disabling the ABS on the H1 as well.

Search for forum name Andres on the TDR. He did a H-1 project in 06 using an 03 motor and did a good job documenting the conversion. The 03 Dodge (not sure about the 05 if it is the same) gets the speedometer off the tone ring at each front wheel and off the diff, not the trans. The tach signal, gauges comes off the engine computer. You don't get the speedo/odometer unless the computer sees a tone ring. Andres put the Dodge gauge panel in the H-1 panel and he modified the the gauge cover, (he flattened the curved cover glass on the Dodge).

Hope that helps, good luck.

I know that some of, if not all, the destroked kits use the sensors off the donor truck on the engine for the dash to work. I. E. OEM oil psi sender/switch for the dash is installed in the block, and the Cummins switch remains to keep the ECM happy.

Yep know John. Hes the one that convinced me to go with the full drive train. I'm not going to go with the Dodge column and panel. I like the interior and everything else about the hummer just had the opportunity to rebuild a truck out of the lake and want this one to have a cummins like my daily does.

Oh and pics.

Maybe its just a Kalifornia thing, but how do you guys work the smog on these later conversions? Here even the diesels are checked.

Not checked here. . just safety for Diesels.

The truck was under water for 8 years

We have the frame back together and the motor in... just got the high mount AC compressor parts on. . got the fuel pump ready to install and mocked up the custom tank. We put the body on to confirm the lift and need to increase it to a 3" body lift. . which I figured on but hoped I could avoid. Cleaned up the side of the motor and got rid of the fuel filter and transmission cooler box... anyway here are some updated pics.

Truck was reported stolen with 700 miles on it and disappeared. They found it back about 18 months ago when they had to drain down the lake for an algae bloom. That was my HMCO 2003 in the background. I had 3. Still have the 2003 Wagon that I'm going to sell soon. . I just don't drive them anymore and after this ones done that slow poke 6. 5 with 190hp and 300 tq isn't going to be any fun anymore.

Not in Kalifornia... don't know where that came from... I'm down in Texas and active on the hummer forums... there's a larger build thread over there on hummernetworkforums.com under lake truck build.

Thought I would post an update. Body work is done and about ready to put the truck back in 1 piece. Finally finished the A/C relocate just a little cleanup to do on the motor mounts and brackets. Fuel lines are going in. . dealing with the dual tanks is the only issue I'm working through. For now I'm just going to Y the Airdog and Return from the motor into the switch valve for the hummer and see if its works. . I'm thinking I may eventually have to add a check valve to make sure one line doesn't over force the other... anyway a couple of pics.
