She Won't Start!!! Need Help!!!!!!

Help me pick out an Allison, please

I have found a 2001 quad cab short bed truck that was rolled over and the cab is shot. I also found a 85 Crew Cab (which where all short beds I think). Will the 85 body fit on the 01 frame?? I know the interior would have to all be custom and stuff like that but if the body fits it might be a cool truck.

Thanks,

John

From my past experience I would say No the body's wont interchange . now if you want to swap all the stuff from the 01 into the 85 that would work but you would have to get a pass side drop t case and adapter It would almost be easier to find a first gen and just swap everything onto the 85 it would then be a basic bolt on and go truck . good luck with your search.

I think I will still buy the 2001 rollover. . its only 4500 bucks with 100K on the ticker. Axles and motor are worth more than that...

Thanks,

John

Thats not really a good deal. Rollover 2nd gen trucks usually sell in the $1000 - $3000 price range.

Maybe try and find a 12v and your swap will be a bunch easier. IMO

I wish they sold that cheap in Alaska. The last one I saw went for $6500 at auction and it was in way worse shape. Its funny here in AK used Dodges sell really well, my brother sold his 92 with $185K miles on it, sprung doors and rust for $8000... Old 12v's sell even better.

I did the same thing, well kinda. I was out 4 wheeling my 93 w250 one night when i took a corner to fast and ended up rolling it twice. It was a long bed extended cab. Well i bought a 78 crew cab short bed and set out on putting the 78 cab onto the 93 frame. There was ALOT of fabricating, and hours of re-wiring, but its my daily driver again. I rolled my 93 on halloween, and was driving it again by christmas. So if you put your mind to it, i think you can pull it off. But the bed will not fit on if you have a extended cab short bed, because the frame is going to be about 1. 5 feet to short. Maybe look around for a '70 or '80 extended cab short bed?

Jason,
Nope not yet, I am on the slope till friday. If its still around I am going to try to go look at it. I tried calling and emailing the guy the last time he had an ad in and he never answered or called back.
That truck seems like a good deal in AK prices.

I bet it would make a heck of a moose buggy if nothing else... ... .

When that truck was first listed for sale he wanted $4000, then a few days later he upped the price to $4500 just to let you know.

That is a good deal, my buddy Wayne paid $5000k for a 99 that has 100K on it and had front end damage, that is what he put in the 73 F-250... Which is running nowOo.

I don't think you can go wrong with that up here, they want $3500 and up at the junk yards up here for just the engine.

Exactly what I was thinking..... From the spelling in the ad and the message on his phone I am guessing he is..... how do I put this... . not so smart. . I think $4000 in new $100's from the bank and it could be mine.
