2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 2001 Towing Mirror Question

I need some input on the following;I have a 2001 3500 Dually 4x4 with manual heated towing mirrors and I would like to install power heated towing mirrors but have been told that there is nothing available for that year by the dealer. Has anyone installed the powered towing mirrors on a 2001?Thanks Dan H

There was a Thread on that subject recently. You may want to do a search. From what I remember of that thread, it was said that it would be almost impossible to do what you want to do.

It's now become very difficult due to the changes in the new mirrors. A couple of years ago, you could swap the bases on the mirrors from the 2nd gen to the third gens, but now the different years of mirrors are too different from each other. You will have to find an older set of third gen mirrors, made in 2005 or older. It is one of the best mods I have done on the truck.

Just did the swap.

I just made the conversion to the power heated trailer tow mirrors on my 01 2500. I bought a factory set of mirrors for the 03 up trucks and found out that they are different and will not work. Good thing that I have an 04. 5 3500 truck also, so I put the new ones on my 04. 5 and used the original ones for the swap. Look for someone with an 03-05 truck and see if they will trade for brand new mirrors. The door panels come off easily and changing them is a snap.
