Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2001 Transmission not shifting

A friend of mine had a 2001 automatic transmission that is not shifting into 3rd gear while cold. When it warms up for 30 minutes it will shift into third gear. He had changed the filter and fluid in the transmission but no luck. The check engine light had not come on so he is assuming there are no sensors bad. It changed fine from first to second. Any ideas?

Switch the key on and off three times leaving it on the third time and write down the codes if any from the odometer, then call Bill at 866-504-4002.



Also you sure that it is 3rd gear shift, not OD?



There is a temp sensor to lock out OD. SNOKING

had that problem last year. No 3rd gear with no Check engine light. Ended up being a relay. 4 months ago I lost second gear. This time it ended up being the mounting tab the held the 2rd gear band in place broke off. Now with a complete rebiult and upgraded transmition, all is great.
