2001 Truck problems?

Have you had any problems wth your 2001 truck?

No problems - It's just perfect!

Trivial ones - Just a few things that were fixed under warranty, or I fixed them myself.

Noteworthy ones - Fixed, but I had to go back at least once because it wasn't done right the first time.

Onerous ones - Finally convinced the dealer that there was a problem, and got it fixed.

Contentious ones - There is a problem, but the dealer won't recognize it.

Engine problems - fixed by dealer

Engine problems - fixed by Cummins

Contentious engine problems - not fixed.

Transaxle seal leak. 3 X to dealer finally fixed. Once for TSB reflash. Hey this is less then when I had my new Phord SD

Transfer case seal where rear driveshaft comes in. I believe it's called a transaxle.



It could be a made up name that sounds good too

I get my 3rd one this week (4th if you count the orginal).

Broken clockspring and a failed lift pump. Other then that, its great!

Had to have the driver's seat heater fixed (replaced leather cover with built in coils) and had to have the hood seal re-glued. Other than that, no problems.

oil leak

had a very small oil leak. dealer fixed no problem. otherwise truck is great, but then it'll turn 6k tomorrow...

Rear Output Seal on transfer case!

Had the rear seal on transfer case replaced at 1200 miles, 17K later and running stronger every day.

Dealer adjusted the left rear door latch, which was too tight. That's it.

Truck overheating..... new fan clutch at 14000mi... ... . oil seeping at rear of pan from new... . dealer fixed both... ... ... . then dented my truck... .

Other than that, love the torque and the noise... ... .....

When I start it up at gatherings, people turn around and I tell them "Thats what a real truck sounds like. "

Lift Pump Recall, no hastle. 37,000 miles. Original tires, brakes etc.

Just returned from 4,000 trip towing 9000 lbs. Love my ETH.

First lift pump was dying at 3200 miles, replaced it with a Mallory 4150. Clock spring was doing just tandy until I had the warranty 'upgrade' put in, lasted all of 6 days. Takes alot more than that to make me a non-believer in how much I love this truck.

Steering: Alignment, new track bar, new steering box - finally fixed. All this before 4k.

And don't even get me started on the console lid hinges. I'm on my 4th one of those - which now needs to be replaced too.

D.C. wont fix

The cruise wont always shut of when it should, sometimes cruise locks up and dead.

This all started less than 2k mile on truck now 17. 4kand 1. 5 years later

replaced transfer case seals. 48k and no other problems except those slow a** phords in the left lane.

No problems! no leaks, no wander. . nothing! This truck has been perfect since day one. 16k and running stronger every day! Only 'complaint'; tires will never see 30k. . right rear wears out too fast

Boost noise

I had some boost clamps loose on my 01 and took 2 days to find at dealer because dio machine said 1 thing and other checks say OK. So dealer checked from engine to exhaust and some clamps were all wrong. All else is running great 1800 miles now 18. 5 to 19. 7 mpg so far.

When I first purchased my 01 I noticed a howl coming from the engine. Turned out to be a gear mesh howl coming from the front drive gears. Since then Ive heard several other Cummins with the same noise. Basically some howl and some dont. Had to have the oil sending unit replaced along with the oil sending unit reflash. Almost 19k miles and going strong.
