The computer is the problem, any wire you disconnect or modify from speed sensor will create other problems. Before long one of our members will come up with a way to B. O. M. B. that to!
Mine is a 2001 HO 3500. It's the white wire with a orange stip. It runs along the cluster over the top of the motor. I snipped mine and it does not shut down at 115 mph anymore. Everything else seems to be ok after snippin it. I have the 6 speed and 3. 54s with a gear vendor overdrive. My RPMs at 100 mph is only about 2150 rpm. The speed limiter wire had to go.
I had the same problem and solved it with a DD mod to my EZ Comp, or you can just buy a DD comp box the 1st time around. At 5X5 I tack out at 3250 and winding. As best I can tell this setting will alow you to wind the Cummins untill you huff a turbo, or run out of fuel or blow the engine. Watever comes first.
Hey guys I had a Suzuki Hiabusa and I had that reading 205 on the speedo and it was even scarrier in my truck doing 100 why would you want to go that fast in a 8000lb vehicle maybe you guys should swap those trucks for a 2002 vette dont get mad Im just kidding have a happy new year and drive slow!!!!!!!!(ha ha)
I just want to bury the speedometer below 120 shooting for 140mph. I wonder if my offroad tires are ZR1 rated for 120+???
Ha, Ha Why spend all this money on upgrades if your not going to use them anyway. It is a matter of how fast you can get there that matters. Crazzzzzy.
