2001

[Turbo Thom]

I've been looking at a 2001 3500, HO. What turbo is on it and what do I need to look at? You see by my sig. what I drive now and it's a good truck, just been bit by the new smell. Injector and lift pump I know is possibly a weak point but what else. The truck has rear disc. Just need help decieding what to do.

Firs of all I like my 2001 2500 very much but I don't have a comparison since this is my first dodge.

The 2001. 5 does have 4 wheel disc and antilock.

The turbo is the same as before the holset 35 ?? don't know the # but it is the same the thing on the HO is the timing is pumped up 10 HP and 40lb torque.

The 24 valve is great, I have had no problem with it in 13,000 miles (knock on wood)

one thing I would recomend is to replace the stock exhaust manifold with an ATS 3-piece manifold. you can get them at atsturbo.com I have heard of the manifolds cracking at an early age so I replaced mine for piece of mind.

Other than that, I say get a nostril full of new truck smell and have fun!

Preston the HO has the 6 speed and the turbo is the HX35. the 5 speed and the auto will have the HY35 or the hard lined waste gate line

Also forgot to mention that the injector pump on the HO is very and I repeat very reliable. The word is that it won't pump up(super HP ) like the ETC pump will BUT the HO pump being left fairly stock will last forever... ..... Pete

test drive it before you buy it

some of the 6speeds have a vibration in 2nd gear about 1500 to 1800 rpms straight from factory. test drive it and make sure the one you are interested in doesnt have the vibration.

I went from a 96 5 speed to a 2001. 5 HO 6 speed and never looked back both trucks 2500 's
