I recently purchased a used 2002 with an automatic which is the first automatic I have driven. I own two other trucks an 04 and and 01 both with maunal transmissions. I recently changed the air filter to an AFE setup and added a 4" exhaust. My question or problem about the automatic is that it is sluggish from a standing start and compared to the other trucks it feels like the engine has alot less pull than the manuals. What else can I do to make this truck perform better. I am a die hard cummins guy and respect your information. Thanks Dennis :)

Ive got same thing and got rid of sluggishness with superchip programmer "but" I also smoked the transmission at 43,000 miles. Their is software that Dodge has in the ecm that is their to protect the transmission, leave it alone and transmission is happy override it with my bombs or any other good "box" and bye bye transmission so its upto you if you want to jump off the stock cliff be prepared to get out the checkbook.

I was more interested in some of the component changes rather than program changes. It looks like you have done some of the things I want to do to improve performance. Could you give me some ideas about what you have done. Dennis

The power loss through the drive train is much more in an auto then a manual.

If your TC is stock, the fluid coupling is less then adequate. (Just a small portion of a bigger problem)
