Archived 2002 auto problems

I have a stock 2002, the auto is stuck in 3rd. It will not drop into OD and take off from dead stop is in 3rd. If I manually downshift into 1st at a stop it still takes off in 3rd. Any ideas?

Sounds like the governor solenoid and that you are in limp mode, does a key on/off cycle repair the issue until you run through the gears again?



Your transmission/transmission electrical needs attention by a good trans source. .

Not quite sure??? Assuming reverse and park still work my guess is a bad solenoid or something electronic (computer, APPS), any codes? I'd creep to the dealer and get it fixed under warranty, if still covered. If not, try tech assistance at one of the aftermarket transmission places, their usually very helpful to customers and non-customers. Just mention the TDR and they'll probably have a few suggestions. I have the truck at the dealer, wait to here the verdict.





The truck seems fine until everything comes up to normal temp then I only have 3rd.
