Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2002 D3500 Auto Trans

Just purchased a 2002 3500 - auto. The truck seems to not always start off in 1st gear. When it does, it wants to hang there until I hit ~2800 prm. Is this normal? I have an appointment with the dealer this Friday - any help is greatly appreciated.

The transmission control module is seeing a problem,sending the trans into a limp mode. Possible problems: with the governor pressure electronics e. g. the pressure transducer or governor pressure solennoid.
