FORD F150!

Looks like they found yet another way to get rid of more side molding.

Hey that looks like a newly designed center console with metal hinges. #ad

I'm glad I just traded my '99 on an '01. I would have been disappointed to end up with a Ford "Catfish" look-alike. It's a shame that they have to mess with success. I wouldn't call it a love child, it's more like a case of incest.

Loved my '99 but couldn't pass on the HO 6spd. What a beast out of the box!

Hey everybody, look close at the very first picture in this thread. It looks like the truck has crashed through a curtain and is in the process of running over a table and chairs. The man and woman in the foreground look like they're getting the $@ll out of Dodge (weak pun intended)! #ad

1 more year will tell, hope the 2500 & 3500's are true Crewcab size and that 8 foot beds are standard. I'm tired of all these Wall Street Trucks, I live on a farm and want a work truck, I'll buy the wife a Dakota Quad cab for a show truck. Hope they've fixed the Steering problems! Trucks are getting like all the cars, they all look alike, only the name is different!

Hope some of the members close to Chicago will go look in person and let us know!!

I'll keep my 2001. .

If there is not a true 4 door crew cab Cummins in 18 months, I will be ordering a Ford!! ARE YOU LISTENING D. C. ??????????

I don't care for it! I know that if the 2500/3500 series truck resemble this thing, I will be giving my money to somebody else. The sheet metal work does not turn me against it, but the size of the doors and passenger space / bed length does.

Do we as the TDR not have a lobbyist with the DC folks? If not maybe a member of the TDR in Michigan could go know on the door at the Auburn Hills headquarters of DC.

I Want a new truck that is comparable in size but not smaller than what Ford or Chevy is offering currently with their 4 door options, not to mention that a Cummins stays under the hood.

Of course this is just my opinion, I could be wrong!

All I can say is that I'm glad I kept my 93 1st Generation truck, the last of the real trucks from Dodge!
Seriously, I like the new style. Sure it's a evolutionary styling like the new minivans, but who cares as long as DC focused on quality and the problem areas from the previous design. Can't wait to see the new heavy duties.

Hey guys before you get too excited--remember this is a little dinky 1/2 ton run to town and get the groceries truck. This ain't a work truck like we buy.

In another article, it says there is a 6'3" short bed and ALSO an 8' bed version with the 4 doors.

Remember the light duty Fords don't look like the Super Duties. Chebbys are a little different too.

There's always hope... ... but if the 3500s don't have a full crew cab. and 8' bed, and a higher GVW it'll be Ford getting my money too. #ad
Just too bad I can't get a Cummins with it!!!

Bill

Had another customer pull up today in a brand new PSD #ad
He traded his Cummins in on it. Said he really hated the way the Ford ran compared to his Cummins. Why did he trade? You guessed it, needed/wanted a full four doors #ad
Anyone home at DC headquarters?! I know DC, let's stall about putting out the crew cab another year, yeah that's the answer. Don't forget to lay off a few more people while you're waiting around, too.

Just wanted to point this out to you guys since none of you seem to like anything that DC does anymore.

Has DC had any problems selling anything that has been of a "Controversial design" Nope! New Caravan. . sold like hell. . neon still sells. 2nd Gen ram was a big hit... another round of vans was a big hit. The New Sebring thing seems to be doing good. . the 300m took off. and the PT cruiser also. All stuff that i beleive the Auto mags questioned??? Just wanted to throw that out there.

I bet they can't to any worse than Pontiac did in making that Aztec! LOL

My Dad sent me an e-mail, he copied what was in today's L. A. Times for me. I'll just copy & paste it here:

"Today's Times has a spread on the new Dodge Ram. It says the new Ram 1500 goes on sale this fall. The big V10 and diesel engines will continue to be offered in the medium-duty Ram 2500 and heavy-duty 3500 models, which won't be changed over to the new platform and styling until next year. I'll quote the write-up:

"Company designers said they had no choice. Marching orders from the executive suite were clear: Improve and change the content but don't fool with the look. The result is a light-duty truck that won't easily be mistaken for its predecessor but also won't ever be taken for anything but a Dodge Ram. To do that, they basically put the old Ram on steroids. They beefed up the front end, with a hood that slopes sharply up to a windshield that is canted a full 5 degrees more than the current Ram. The front and rear fenders are more pronounced with integrated tail lights that mimic the "Frenched" taillights of custom hot rods of the 40s and 50s. The new truck will ride on standard 17 inch wheels and 20 inch alloys are optional. Disc brakes on all four wheels are standard, as are rear wheel anti-lock brakes and electronically controlled brake-force proportioning. A new four-speed electronic transmission will be available in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive models. The 4x4 also offers an electronically shifted transfer case and gets its first ever independent front suspension.

On the new model, an all-new frame of hydroformed steel has five times the torsional, or twisting, strength and 2 1/2 times the lateral bending strength of the old frame. In a daring move defying conventional wisdom... that pickup truck users want big cargo beds... Dodge decided to cut 3 inches from the bed to make room for a larger cab. The Ram's stretched cabin provides enough room for almost full-size back seats in the Quad Cab and more behind-the-seat storage in regular cab models. When there are no rear-seat occupants in the Quad Cab, the seats fold up against the rear bulkhead and there is an optional folding steel platform tucked under the seats that flips out to create a flat load floor for cargo.

Safety features include available side curtain air bags, shoulder belts for the center-seat passengers, dual front air bags and new crumple zones engineered into the frame to absorb more of the force of an impact before the shock reaches the cabin. "

-Andy (I'm hoping that electronic transfer case and IFS will only be on the 1500's!)

Well, it looks like they all will have towing packages. The car connection site listed earlier said they have the last cross member used as the hitch bracket. Also, if there is a recall on them this time around, you cant get it replaced easily and hafta keep the stock one.

Well, I am tired of waiting for a true crew cab and a decent automatic. I like my 98. 5 QC 4x4 and will probably keep it, but I have to have a true crew cab for my rear passengers on trips, and my wife does not drive stick shifts. She hates the 5 speed in the Dodge. I want an Allison auto for towing so it looks like I will have to go back to chevy and get a Duramax. The write up in TDR this month makes it look like it will do ok but I still have to check it out.

My Ram is the first time to buy a non GM truck, but I sure like the Cummins over the 6. 2 diesel in my Suburban.

I think it looks pretty cool. A little sprucing up on the current style - which I happen to like. Just think, that big grille will let in a ton of fresh air for our Cummins when they get around to building the big boys. A previous post was correct, most half tons that are crew cabs don't look quite right anyway.
