Im posting this for a freind of mine whom has a 2002 , he tells me this one here is basicly a year all by its self as the ECM is specific to this one only .

Any how He has replaced the lift pump and there is no change , he has 17.5 lbs of Pressure , replaced the map sensor and I beleive the cam sensor as well and even the ECM .

Before he changed some of the parts and before a diffreent ECM switch from a 2002 the rig would start and run fine and idle then it would idle real slow then start reving real high on its own .

With the diffrent ECM it started twice now it dont do any thing . after about $3000.00 dumped into it hes at his witts end on it .

So with out ripping the ECM stuff out and converting it to a mechanicle engine does any one have any other ideas ?
Of what can be going on ?

Thank You
Happy Holidays !!!!

Need to have him pull codes up either on the odometer with the key trick or a good scanner which is preferred because sometimes the key trick doesn't show all the codes. As for the ecm, did he get a new unit? Reman units are sketchy at best and a crap shoot from what I've seen.

You can jump start the engine without an ecm. See Blue Chip Diesel's VP44 Diagnostics, No start test #3. At least you'll know if the injector pump side of things is working. Then it comes down to sensors, wiring and the ecm. You might need a mechanic with a Chrysler scan tool to diagnose and program the ecm. It's not about swapping parts any more.

WOW. Love part changers without proper diagnosis. Make lots of money on them.

We are now at the point where we are going to have to start from scratch.

Pull codes and post them if any.

If no codes present, he'll need to crack open the injector lines going into the head to see if he is getting fuel delivery.

Check all the fuses and relays in the PDC that pertain to the fuel system (ASD relay, Fuse 1-3, 6, 7, 9, 10).

Once the engine is running on it's own, if there are any problems there should be a code set. If not, we will need detailed description of each symptom. I.E. Revving up on it's own could be oil, or fuel getting into the intake (I would find it difficult to believe oil or fuel would be getting into all cylinders though other means other than catastrophic head failure), APPS sensor going bad.

We also need to know EVERYTHING that he has repaired, replaced, in detail.
