Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2002 Engine Question Specs.

I have 2 sources of information regarding the peak torque range for my stock 2002 Ram. I am curious as to which one maybe correct.



1) One is from "cummins.com" older webpage that refers to the 2001-2002 HO 6sp. manual as having 505 torque from 1600- 2400 RPM.



2) This one is copied from Dodgeram.org and states:2001-2002

6 Speed Manual Transmission (NV5600 Specs)



Peak Torque 505 lb-ft (from 1600 to 2700 rpm)



Advertised Power 245 hp @ 2700 rpm



Governed Speed 3200 rpm

Compression Ratio 17:1

Maximum Boost 26 psi

Turbocharger HX35W



Any help appreciated!

Yhe torque curve is pretty linear, I want to say that its 2700... ... ... ...

I would want to believe the stats from Cummins first (it's a cummins), but running with the formula you have 245 hp at 2700, that means you have "exactly" 476 ft. /lb. of torque at 2700. Formulas: torque=hpx5252/rpm hp=torquexrpm/5252

i'm wanting to say 245 horsepower at 2700 rpms, with 505 torque at 1700, i don't know if that answers your question but i remember seeing that on my engine plate.

I thought the H. O. was 245 hp & 515 torque. The standard output was 235 hp & 505 torque.

The H. O is rated at 245/505 and the standard output is rated at 235/460, but, I know there is a factory computer that will raise the standard output engine up to the high output rating (for manual trans. only, I think). I bought one for my 99 and my midrange improved greatly. I don't know if there is one for an auto. without going aftermarket.

You are right but there are also other differences such as c. r. ratio and the pumps and injectors. The original question was when does peak torque begin and end. I know that it starts at 1600-and I want to say that you can see on a dyno that it it dies off around 2700 and drops like a prom dress @ 3200.
