The fuel filter on this new truck is different that the one on my 1993. When you change the filter, do you need to drain the filter housing or what? I assume that you need to prime the filter also?

fuel filter

i drain the old fuel out through the water drain. opinions vary here on the site about filling the bowl before the filter is dropped in. that allows some unfiltered fuel to be fed to the VP44. the transfer (lift) pump should prime the system. tighten the top of the filter, and "bump" the starter. the pump should run about 30 seconds. i "bump" (don't start) the starter about three times. the truck generally starts right off--may idle a little rough while it clears the rest of the air.
