I just put a set of 275's in last night. Truck runs great with them and the EZ, but how much smoke should I be getting? It smoked pretty good betwen shifts with just the ez and now it smokes even more. Black smoke not a gray haise. If this is normal then I need to set ez at #2 insted of #3 on the smoke control. It just seems to be alot of smoke for relatively small improvements. Any suggestions , Maybe things I should check?

Thanks Jared

That is what mine does!:D Say it with me "Smoke is good!" ;)

I can control my smoke with my right foot without changing the jumper settings. It's going to puff a little when towing but when empty just keep your foot light on the go pedal until rpm's are up. Install some DD2 or larger for real smoke! Phil

Smoke

Like was posted earlier, smoke has to do with the right foot. I have stage threes and it doesn't smoke until i put my foot in it. Well maybe a little haze when first starting out but once boost comes on the smoke goes away. Let us know if you need anymore help.

Hey JaMan. I have a 01 HO and have been contemplating putting 275's in my truck along with the EZ I already have on it. I am not looking for alot more power, just some more power on the interstate. Give me your opinion on how the truck does on the interstate with the 275's, along with any differences in mileage. Thanks.

Just put the 275's in last night . Drove it today about 90 miles and like the power. The increase is across the rpm range , just feels stronger overall. No dramatic increase at low rpms but across the band good. I wanted an increase w/out haveing to tap the pump wire and wanted to still use stock clutch. Going to check milage this weekend. If I try to drive without smoke it should be good.

JaMan- I saw a significant increase in smoke with the introduction of the 275's on my 01HO. I also have the EZ, so for all practical purposes, the trucks are identical. The right foot controls the smoke, and I've found that once the turbo gets a chance to really spool up, the smoke all but dissapears.

Slightly Modified- The power on the interstate is great with this setup. Plenty of getup. Really pulls good and stong in 4th - 6th. I have the 4:10's, so 1st - 3rd don't really give you that strong pull feeling. My mileage with the EZ alone only went up about . 5 mpg. Oddly enough the 275's got me at least another 1mpg, maybe closer to 1. 5.

JaMan,

I think you're seeing more smoke because it is getting hot. You'll definitely notice more smoke as the weather gets hotter. Like everyone says, use the right foot to control the smoke. Nothing to worry about.

ez and 275s

Hey guys,

I have an 01 with the ez, AFE, and 4 inch exhaust, and stock injectors. I was thinking about changing injectors. I thought they would give a better performance across the entire band, and I heard it would get better milege. Which injectors would be reccommended and will my stock clutch get smoked if I am careful in how I use it.
