Will this be a good setup? The wife and I are talking about getting rid of the 96 4x4 a/t and getting a new truck so that I will quit bothering her. I would like to keep the warranty so I will shy away from the black boxes. What kind of power can be expected? Thanks.

HDH,see what you started! LOL!

Run it stock

I have a 2001. 5 2500 HO / 6 speed 4. 10 that I tow our 10,000 lb 5er with in the mountains of Colorado. Works just fine for me stock. If you want to maintain the warranty, try it stock for a while first. Works for me.

Stock

I agree with klenger.

The ETH pulls pretty darn hard stock, try it first that way. If it's not enough, add the Edge EZ box. It's easily removed for warranty work and you will run cooler than with injector upgrades alone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't DC start putting those little void stickers where the EZ plugs into on the 2002 trucks?? Can someone with a 2002 verify this Thought I read someone saying one of the new things DC did for 2002 was put the void stickers where the EZ plugs into.

I have a 2002 just received my EZ Box last night. I have not hooked it up yet, but from what I have seen, there are not any void stickers where it will connect. The only two void stickers I have seen so far is one on the Injection pump and the other on the plug which goes into the ECM. I am looking at the instructions for the EZ install & it says it plugs into the Data Link Connection and the Map Sensor. Both of these do not have void stickers on them. If anything is different when I install it, I will post a response.

The EZ is the best SINGLE upgrade to do to a Cummins. It comes off in less than a minute and leaves no trace or codes. You cannot get injectors out of a truck in less than a minute. PLUS, the EZ does so much more than just a set of injectors. By far, the clear choice... ... ... ... . and no, I am not opinionated... ..... just stating the facts!

Nope, I didn't disturb any VOID stickers installing the EZ on our 2002. It made a very significant difference in performance, both unloaded and towing. I would highly recommend it. :D

I have an EZ on my truck. Expected some more power, but, not as much I got. The truck will pull 4th gear hills in 6th, idles smoother, is smoother at speed, and my fuel mileage went up by 2mpg. The only complaint I have is the glare of my teeth in the windshield at night. :D

I would definetly get the EZ first and if you still thirst for more you can get injectors. I am real happy with my setup as I pulls excellent in the mountains (only 6000 lbs) without EGT problems.

As you can see from my signature I only have the EZ and DD1's.

Stock HO

I'm very happy with my stock HO 6 speed. My 5er is about 9000-10000 lbs and I have not worried about more power even after pulling at 7000-8000ft elevations and 12 mile long 6% grades. :D :D Be sure to get an exhaust brake!!!:) :)

Try it stock first like others have said and let it brake in. When the truck was new, It pulled the hills at 55mph in 5th gear (7000k pounds), now that it is broken in a little (6000k) it pulls them at 60mph. Most have said that this engine needs a good 10,000 mi. to brake in. I have considered the EZ, just need to convince the wife. The old international pulled the same hills at 40 mph so she thinks 55-60 is just fine.

Will try Drawson but with the new truck, we went from 10 to 13mpg towing and from 17 to 23, not towing (fwy). Might be a hard sale! She is an engineer too so she would want to see the numbers!;)
