Hello to all, has anyone swapped 2002 seats into a 1996?. please let me know how it worked out and what is needed to do this.
Thank you.

Is the '02 2nd Gen (diesel) or 3rd Gen (gas) body? As long as the seats are from the same style cab (regular cab, extended cab, or quad cab) you shouldn't have a problem. The floor in the extended cabs and quad cabs is flat where in the regular cab, the back part of the floor is 5"-6" higher than where the front mount is.

.... but the mounting holes above the sliding mechanisms are the same, so regardless of reg cab or Ext cab, the seats will bolt up if the same gen.....

So, 1996 and 2002 reg cab are the same mounting holes,no changes. what about the wires for the power seat. are they pre wired for this in the SLT?Thanks. I want install a good used seat with power and leather.

If you use just the seats, you will unbolt the seats from your frames, keeping your existing wiring and tracks. If you unbolt the frames from the floorboard, then you will have to rewire everything.... Go take a look at it, if you slide the seat all the way forward, there should be a two 10mm head bolts in the front that holds the top section down to the sliders. I'm talking about the metal the seat fabric hooks to...... Then the seat has to go all the way back to access the rear bolts, and the whole seat, backrest and all, comes off the sliding tracks. They should bolt up, but I have seen some Mexico built stuff that was stamped a bit off, and the holes had to be opened up a bit, nothing serious, just required drilling the hole off center a little, or opening it up a 1/16th or so....

Do the 02 seats have the seat belts built into the seat back? They do in a quad cab but maybe standard cabs don't. If you don't have a belt problem, I'm jealous....

The SLT packages started coming prewired in late 96, with a wire loom hanging out under the seat. Worse case scenario, you'll have to add a terminal to the fuse box and put a fuse or circuit breaker in it. The power feed side should be there, you'll just need the power feed to the seat switch. I'm pretty certain the SLTs in 97 had the wire loom up to under the seat.... All mine that were SLTs have/had power seats....

The 98+ trucks had seat belts built into the seat in extended cabs, but regular cabs did not.

Leather seats were an option dealers requested, and many came from local mfgs, such as Classic Soft Trim, Lewisville, TX.... They built the seat covers and installed them for local dealers, and sent other covers to dealers for installation.
