Hi Guys,

I have a stock exhaust that came off my 2002 truck when I installed my Jardine system. It's sitting in my shed and my wife is forcing me to get rid of it to make room. I'd happily give it to anyone who can pick it up. It was taken off the truck with only 2000 miles on it so it's it great shape. It is in one huge section except for the one cut between the muffler and where it mounted to the turbo (I think, I can go out and look to verify if interested). I'd consider shipping but would rather have someone pick it up. If anyone is interested let me know quickly as I'm not going to be able to hold her off much longer.

Hi Ray... ... ... I just ordered a 2002 Ram so I don't need it but I do have a question. Why do folks get rid of there stock exhaust ?

Thanks , Cliff

cberry,

most people replace the stock exhaust so they have higher flow to help reduce the EGT's on modified trucks.

Some do it for the sound as well.

I replaced mine as the first step in a long list of planned mods.

Thanks Bill for the reply, but have a dumb question... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... What are EGT's? I guess I might as well know if I'm going to own a diesel huh?:)

EGTs...

EGT is your Exhaust Gas Temperature. Cummins recommends keeping it below 1250*F. If the truck is stock, this is not supposed to be a problem, I think but some have found it could be a problem even with stock trucks. It is recommeded by most here that you add gauges as the first mod to your truck before any other mods. The gauges most often recommended are EGT (Pyrometer), Fuel pressure (to monitor for failing lift pump), and Boost pressure (measure the air pressure generated by the Turbo).

I have Dakota Digital gauges ordered for mine, just so I can keep a check on it. :D
