Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2002 trannie problems

Had a problem with the truck\trans this morning going into work, it up shifts through all gears very quickly locked regardless of gear selector position. it will not downshift. I have to go to neutral when stopping.



I did have a manual lockup switch installed and thought that may be the problem. it is now removed and I still have the issue.



Any ideas what to check next?

Have you checked for Diagnostic Trouble Codes?

In absence of anything more specific, it sounds like you could have a failed governor pressure solenoid valve and / or a failed governor pressure sensor. Failure of these components is somewhat common. Do a search for these items here on the forum and you'll dig up similar symptoms as yours.

They're easily replaced when you drop the transmission pan.
