2002's Available for Order??

I've seen a couple of individuals post that they have 2002's on order with a scheduled delivery in August. I called my dealer yesterday, and he advised that he will not be able to order 2002's until July - according to him, Dodge has not released the 2002 pricing and option availability information. He said that any order placed is just going to sit on the computer until all of this information is available on the system.



What's going on? Am I getting the run-around here?

Rusty I talked to Desert Dodge here in las vegas and the fleet Director stated that my truck has been ordered and will be here in august. Talked to him on 6-21-01 Thursday. Bought my 99 from him so I believe he knows whats going on. Have your guys check that computer again. . Good Luck!

Just to give me some ammunition to go back to my dealer to show that you have a working order on a 2002, would you be willing to share your VON (vehicle order number), current order status, etc. from your dealer's computer system? If so and you don't want to share it on the public forum, you can e-mail it to me at -- email address removed -- (work) and/or -- email address removed -- (home).

Rusty,why don't you just order one from Vegas then go pick it up. By the time you get home it will be on it's way to being broken in. It would be good for it to pull you trailer home as it was being broken in. Sounds like a good road trip to me.

Rusty I again talked to the fleet manager today. I asked if he had the VON number for my order. He stated that the factory has yet not returned my confirmation, thats when the number gets assigned. He said that He should hopefully see something tomorrow 6-27. As far as the 2002 pricing he just ordered off the 2001 invoices and said the factory will adjust accordingly if there are any price increases As soon as I have that number I will e-mail you, RC

I ordered a 2002 by phone from the Fleet Manager on 6/4 while I was out of town. I'd never stepped foot in the dealer or talked to the guy before. After reading about TDR member's orders getting cancelled without even the dealer knowing, I was (am) expecting all sorts of problems with DC kicking the order back, so I went to see the Fleet guy in person when I got back into town a few days later. He assured me that all was well and that he'd know if something happened to the order, showed me his fleet order list which had my name already on it and an associated VON, and said I didn't need to manage it from my end.



I got some level of comfort after seeing on some fleet management websites that ordering was open (fleet only? dunno) and that production start is 7/25.

I figure that I won't nag the Fleet Manager again about the order is it's about one month old, so I don't have an order status to share with you, but I'll send my VON via separate e-mail. If you find anything out about 2002 ordering, production, or my order specifically, please be so kind as to share it with me.

I ordered an '02 3500 QC 4x4 on 6/24, from the local Dodge dealer hear in Cedar City, UT. He did not have pricing information, but did have all of the option and color choices for me to go through. He expects delivery on 8/24 or sooner.



It sounds to me like your dealer doesn't want to place an order until pricing information is available, not that he can't place an order.



Good luck, although it may be time to find another dealer, if they are already feeding you a line of bull.

Slightly off the topic Rusty but....

I see by your e-mail address that you work for Cooper Energy? As in gas compression-specifically Ajax? I just got transferred to a plant with 4 Ajaxes thumping away-and I am having a tough time getting up to speed on the old girls... . Maybe you could drop me a line at -- email address removed -- if you know anything about these beasts or could point me to somewhere where I could get some literature/operating tips/general know-how so I can appear smarter than I actually am.....

Hello, I ordered my 2002 RAM 2500 Cummins on June 2nd and was just called today and told they have a confirmation number from Dodge. I asked him to mail my confirmation number along with the VON he said he would get it in the mail to me tomorrow. Hope this helps. Says I'll take delivery in August.

Thanks, guys. Based on your information and a lot of arm-twisting on my part, I finally persuaded my dealer to enter my order just as it had been entered for the cancelled 2001. 5 truck onto the system this morning. He didn't really want to do it - didn't think anything would come of it - but at least he did it. His comment was, "I don't even need a deposit until we see what happens. "



Dang, with what I've been through, I feel like nobody wants to take my money and order my truck! Business must really be good!

For grins, I checked with DC Customer Service today (6/27) about my order status. They said that as of 6/15 it was in BG status ("passed edit n/a for schedule" according to http://www.dodgeram.org/buying_info/Order_status.htm) with a hold due to "something" on restriction . They were not able to get a description why/what is on restriction. So now I am going to bug my fleet guy to find out more info. Unfortunately he's not there today .

What is on restriction is the truck. They are not building 2002 models yet so the whole truck is on restriction. they don't start production of the 7/11/2001.

Well, that makes sense. I was afraid that I was up against something like the ETH/DEE restrictions that were reported awhile back. Thanks for the input.
