SBeauchamp,
How about please filling in your profile so we know what kind of truck you have?
In previous posts you had a problem with a 1998. 5 Dodge CTD, but now you're working on what year? How is this truck equipped?
And to clarify the problem, you have an auto equipped truck that's not dropping down into 1st gear on it's own when coming to a stop? What DTC's are you getting (if any)?
If this is a case of the transmission not automatically dropping down to 1st, it could be a range of problems. It could be:
1. Malfunctioning transmission output speed sensor (a less than $20 part located on the tail housing).
2. Mis-adjusted transmission Throttle Valve Cable (a. k. a: Kick Down Cable).
3. Faulty transmission Pressure Sensor Transducer.
4. Faulty Transmission Governor Solenoid.
5. Sticking 1st to 2nd shift valve or a sticking 2nd to 3rd shift valve (inside the valve body).
6. Front servo piston is cocked in its bore.
7. A rare voltage signal problem on the wire between the transmission Pressure Sensor Transducer and the PCM.
Best regards,
John L.
