I'm not as concerned about the auto transmission as some people, but ay least it's some kind of improvement. One change I wish I had, and may look at doing is the NV271. The 241HD has a input torque rating of 5555 lb. feet. The 271 has over 7000. Still like my truck as a whole a lot better.

Maybee it is are fault. DC has seen how our transmission experts have made the 47re hold up to way more than 555lbs. 555lbs is a walk in the park!

Rumor for the 2500- 3500 03's is they will get a Getrag six speed auto and choice of two diesels one being a Cummins and the other a MB... .

I will be in the market for a 3500 in 04 only if it has a Cummins and if they make a true crew cab

As far as the transmission, any German built trans has to be better then our OEM setup!!

Just my opinion :)

new rams

I hope they do come out with a single rear wheel 3500. I can't wait to compare the specs and I'm betting that my 2500 will show up to be the same. Then so much for 8800 MGW. :p ;)

The picture looks really cobbled. It looks like the rear is a 2nd generation, due to the indentations along the body panels, which Dodge has eliminated in the new ones. And, shouldn't the clearance lights be near the front of the cab?

I also have it in my mind that the duallie flares will be molded in, rather than "bolted-on" (no seams).

Can't wait for the big unveiling!!!

What? Cough Cough Puke... GETRASH? I mean Getrag... . no thank you. I had a 5 speed G-Trash in a '90 Dodge, what a piece of dookie! Do a search on Getrag in the 1st generation forum here(or search on a Dodge Stealth/Mitsu 3000GT site), find out about the wonderful German engineering that makes these trannies so GRrrrowlEAT.

NVG has more beef than G-trash of the Zf in F*rd or Chebby.

It better not have a getrash!!!!!!!!!! I will never buy a truck with one of those POS nazi-built disasters they call gear boxes. Ya-- do a search of the first gen forum, you will definetly find more of the same feelings for the getrag 360.

TOW HOOKS

I am kinda new at this, but in looking at the pick-up type trucks built in the nineties and now in the 2000 plus, it has been my observation that all (except the Rams) come from the factory with TOW HOOKS in the front.

Am I missing something? I think it would be unfair to second-guess GM and Ford on this. If they say they need front TOW HOOKS, they ought to know. :D

If DC put front TOW HOOKS on the new Rams… :(

'03 2500-3500

Several things I really like on the buzz on the '03s:

12,500 lbs GVWR on the 3500s for us hauling heavy slide in campers.

Higher GCWRs for those towing heavy 5th wheels.

HO engine available with an automatic transmission. Allison option available on the 3500-4500/5500 Cab & Chassis trucks after '03 model year. Hmmm, tells me something about the new 48RE transmission.

Max torque at a 400 RPM wider range with still more "grunt" power than either the PSD or D-max. Common fuel rail injection system with 80% less noise--I won't be "blowing the bugle" when I leave the RV park early in the morning.

I like the new four regular doors on the '02 Quad Cab with the additional room--don't need a full crew-cab or want the extra length wheelbase and the less maneuverability that goes with it. If I did, I would already be driving a brand F.

My $0. 02

O. K. Kids forget about the pic. It is clearly doctored. Let's get to the real problem here, if you read the link above.

According to the 'buzz page' if you live in Cal. you can't get either one of the higher output engines. You are stuck with the 235 hp version. That sucks!! I guess I will have to go to Oregon if I don't want another de-tuned Cummins.

B. T. W. the new autos are 40% stronger and are said to last 55% longer. That can't be bad.
