I have a 2003 2500 HD with a 48RE trans. It does not want to shift 1-2 unless i let off on the accel pedal. I replaced the gov press solenoid, the gov press switch, the output shaft sensor, new filter & fluid with no better result. I am wondering if you had any recommendation for a reman trans & new torque convertor. thanx for your help!!!

Mapquest says 55 miles to Griffin, Ga. Go talk to Jeff Garmon. I just got a stage 1 trans from him and so far so good. The lower stall torque converter makes all the difference: the truck feels like it has at least another 50 ft/lbs of torque. Mark

Adairsville or Griffin are fairly close to you. Local guy here in McDonough is supposed to be pretty good with performance transmissions also. Depends on how much you want to spend and who you want to trust.

My son-in-law recommends Jeff Garmon. May I ask what your trans cost was, is it set up for towing? Did you have to let Jeff install it? Thanx for your help!!! SOFTAILER

Softailer, go to Garmonsdieseldrivetrain.com for his pricing, etc. Jeff ships Stage 2 and up transmissions, but only installs his stage 1 at his shop so he can see that the engine is stock or not far from it. His install price is reasonable. It is tow ready. Mark

03 transmission

Thanx for recommending GARMONS dropped off my truck there this morning. looking forward to the rebuild/results!!!

Just want to say thanks to Jeff Garmon! He rebuilt my 48RE after the trans cooler took a dump. He and his shop are a class act!!! I just picked up the old grey ghost and man what a difference! Looking forward to driving it now.

Jeff is good people. 267k on my truck now, he built my trans at 65k and has stood behind it. Cracked a torque converter pump ear about 30k miles ago (Freak occurrence I guess) and took it back to Jeff. Not only did he refuse to charge me for it (way out of the warranty period), but he installed the latest upgraded converter. He definitely stands behind his work.
