3500 SRW 2x4 HO TEST DRIVE & OTHERS INSPECTION

Was at the dealer yesterday. A 4x4 was parked next to a '02 4x4. Sits about 1. 5" shorter at the tailgate. The rear spring pack was running 2 overloads now. There is NOT fender inserts installed, but the holes are there. crawled under one and things are impressive. A FULLY boxed frame and front control arms, everything seems to be well laid out. (that was under a 5. 7 hemi) Didn't seem to be much clutter at all. The HO was quite but was still a CTD. While driving off the lot, the first thing I noticed was the exhaust note. It sounded great! The next thing I noticed as accelerating was the suck of the turbo all the way to up shift! What an awesome sound! Felt real strong. Stereo was cool, told you what station, incl. call letters, you were listening to and what time it was at the same time. Power adjust pedals, even with a 6sp. When I was under the hemi, which by the way has real cool badging in the same place as the Cummins, there seem to be a box mounted just in front of the fuel tank, wonder if this is the new location for the fuel pump. It seemed to be fuel lines and a fuel filter down there. Something else that I noticed was the build quality seemed to be much better, then without me even saying anything the salesman said Dodge just hired one or the quality control guys from Toyota. If that is true I could tell. Now since I'm a slush box guy, I asked about the new 48. The factory rep happened to be there as they just got these trucks in, so I got the skinny. I was told that they are not taking orders for the HO auto till mid/late Dec. Delivery till late April/early May. There is a chance that it might not happen at all. They are still waiting for all the data from testing. I was told that it was mandated that there be 250,000 miles logged for testing. Maybe the new quality control. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Overall, when you see the truck parked next to a '02, you can tell it just looks bigger, I like it!!!!!:D :D

I stopped by the Conroe Dodge dealership today (Sunday) and

browsed the lot. None of the '03 2500's I looked at had a full

plastic rear wheel liner, just a small plastic rock guard at the

rear of the fender inside the fenderwell (See images). The

front wheelwell did have a full plastic liner. For those of you

wondering what difference it makes, ;), the liners are very easy

to clean and when I finished washing my '01 and cleaning the

wheelwell liners, the truck looks extra clean up close. Nice black

inner wheelwells. :D

I added a few more pictures on Sept 01, with some window

sticker shots and a wheelwell shot.

Checked local dealership yesterday and they had 3 3500 SRW 4x4's and 4 2500 4x4's. All I can say is that they look sweet:). I especially liked a dark garnet red SWB 3500 with the SLT+ package. The chrome accent in the middle of the grill with painted outside of the grill IMO looks great, much better than than the regular all chrome SLT. Another thing I noticed was the overall height of the truck when compared to mine. It was at least 1-2" higher than my truck which is great. One last thing, the rear axle on the 3500's I was looking at seem much larger than the Dana 80 on my truck. Don't know how much stronger it is compared to the Dana 80 but it sure looks beefy.

Just saw my first CTD 3500 Duelly today. It was Garnet in color and had the 6-speed HO engine. It was real sweet looking! One nice looking truck! It was not on the dealers lot, so I was unable to look inside other than trough the window.
