2003 cummins starts, runs 20 minutes-

Then shuts off. This is a 2003 -3500 advertised locally. The truck recently had a complete engine rebuild. Seems to run just fine for 20 minutes then just dies.

Did you check the lift pump?

I suggested to the seller that he have the lift pump and solenoid checked by a cummins mechanic.
I had forgotten that my 98 had shut off going down the interstate one time and I worked on the solenoid, got it going and went on down the road. Installed a new one when I go home and no further issues.
My experience with the lift pumps on that model always involved poor starting.

There is no fuel shut off solenoid on the CR's, fuel shutoff is the ECU not firing the injectors.



Fuel pressure gauge at the CP-3 and see what it says when it dies. If that is good, retorque the cross over tubes in the head. Typical problem when the engine warms up it quits and\or hard starts.
