Have 2003 running great pulled off freeway died at light cranks but will not fire. Have checked fuel to pump getting 15 lb pressure. Cranks but fire. I dealer now cannot find any new codes they say. Shows only 1000 lb in fuel rail when cranking. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank Brian
Unplug the FCA's electrical plug. See if it will fire up then, it will rattle like crazy, so don't drive it that way, but you will know if that's the problem. The FCA is the small cylinder on the back of your injection pump, just undo the plug.
Had dealer try it and still no fire. Not showing and other recent codes. Could computer taken a dump? Or the high pressure pump. Hard to believe since was running great.
Hey Brian, I had the same prob with my 03. I was the injectors unfortunately. Try spraying a shot of ether into the air box and see if it starts. The 03-04 trucks had this issue, especially with higher mileage over 100,000.
Have a hard tine believing all injectors failed. Thet were all checked and new nozzles put on by formula one two had bad bodies and were replaced. No fuel in oil. Spraying either I believe will not tell me much as high pressure pump could have problems or computer issues. It is at a dealer about two hours fom me in Longview WA the service adjuster is the only one I am getting help from as the tech does not want to work on in as it is in a 1995 body. All wiring from the engine to the dash is 2003 and the dash itself is 2003. The only additional wiring is the TST box which they tried the bypass plugs on. I do have an Allison with a seperate computer and wiring but this seems to freak out the tech. I had a similiar problem when I first put it together with a different computer. Did everything but fire. Once the current computer was put in fired immediately and no prolems until this. Never stumbled etc. Have a hard time believing computer would just die.
I only had 2 that were bad. With the shot of ether the truck would fire right up. I replaced all 6 by my choice. And on a side note I just last week rescued a friend that had brand new injectors that were less then a week old that had a bad one.
