New PHORD???

Some Rams end up in broken homes....

This is such a subjective topic. I sat in one of the 1500s today and adjusted the electric seat to where I felt comfortable. I don't crowd the steering wheel. I'm 5'9" and 200lbs. My personal financial administrator (she does it for a living) got in behind the driver's seat and pronounced the rear seat to be *much* better to sit in than my '99 QC. I am considering upgrading, just for the added rear room.

I believe the 2500s and 3500s will share the cab with the 1500s. IMHO, it's a good and carefully executed compromise.

if they would build us a TRUE CREW then i could sell the wifes suburban and we would have two Dodges in our stable.

she wont haul the kids in a quad cab.

There has been alot of interests in crew cab conversions on the forums. After looking at several conversions both good and bad I was not happy with the workmanship of perportions of front to rear doors on the second generation Dodges. Being a Street Rod builder that had built a few stretch street rod limos I finally built myself a real crew cab club cab Dodge. I know you guys won't like this but it has a built V-10 that has ate up 3 built autos. My latest self inflicted night mare has been the installation of a 1000 series Allison 5 speed out of a gm. Ratios are great however getting the calibration right has been a headache. Pulls much stronger. You diesel boys would love this trans. We are located in the northern end of Oregon and are ready to tackle a few real crew cab conversions for those of you in the West, and or Allison conversions. This is my first post so hope the picture files work.

I came across the 2003 Ram on my last trip to Chicago at the end of Oct. I saw it on the Ohio Turnpike. The front was covered but I could see distinct front and rear doors and the rear doors looked full size. The truck was black and towing a 5th wheel trailer. Also in the group was the (2) 2002 1500's 1 of which was also towing a 5th wheel. I suspected they were conducting tests of sime nature.

I really don't think we can argue fact that the '02 1500's and '03 2500/3500's do have four real doors, regardless of their size. I've read a lot of posts implying DC is misleading us, but DC isn't calling them crew cabs. I've heard people say they like the idea that the rear passenger can get out without needing to open the front door.

I know people that own crew cabs and I think I can honestly say that the amount of time they have passengers in the back seat may not truly justify a crew cab. I wouldn't be surprised if DC hasn't found this to be true in their research, and therefore decided to only add 3" to the existing QC. I personnally like the new size and recently spent 2 hrs as a backseat passenger in the '02 with no major complaints.

After visiting www.dodge.com.mx I really don't see any difference in the 1500 and 2500. Can someone remind me why they would be advertising the '02 style in a 2500 on the Mexico site? If they're offering the 2500 in the '02 style there, why couldn't they do it here?

Just my humble thoughts.

Easy Answer. :)

Since I live on the American/Mexican Border I see alot of trucks badged as 2500 when in reality they are only 1500.

ALL Chevy Suburbans that come new from mexico are labeled 2500. The suburbans are EXACTLY the same as American versions (6-lug rims, light duty springs, light duty everything), minus zero window tint, and speedo's that read kilometers and not MPH.

99% of all new Trucks that come from Mexico are badged 2500.

They can have V-6 motors, and 5 or 6 lug axles and still say plain as day, "2500". I think it has to do with the English/Metric Conversions that allow Mexico to put 2500 on the side of the Vehicles,, or they may just do it to sell more cars,, I am not sure why they do it, BUT, it is done ALL the time, and is actually very UNcommon to see a new 1/2 ton truck, Sport utility come from Mexico and be Badged a 1500.

ALL 1/2 ton trucks are labeled 2500.
