:) Hi I'm thinking on getting a 2003 truck. I was wondering if anyone knew what the Incentives for the 03 are in the Ok Ne and KS states Thanks

Try the Dodge site and input your zip code for them (then call the dealer and ask for any thing else you can think of - Farm Bureau, Military, Collage grad, Student, etc) and they MIGHT have one or 2 others we never think of (a gud dealer will/should tell ALL).

Try Dave Smith motors in Kellogg, Id. I have search all over the country for the lowest price and purchased mine yesterday. They can tell you over the phone what incentives are available for your state. They also have the largest selection of 2003s available.

Dave Smith Motors - (208) 784-1208 or (800) 635-8000.

The sales rep I purchased mine from is Elmer Field at extension 1246. They also have a website at "usautosales.com". I'm actually flying up to Spokane on Wednesday where they will have a shuttle pick me for the 1 1/2 hour drive to Kellogg. I've been very impressed with their customer service so far and nobody's been able to beat their prices!

RD:

You probably know most of this already, but here goes. In Oklahoma right now there is the nationwide $2,500 rebate, which supposedly expires July 31st. There is the $500 Farm Bureau coupon, which also expires July 31st (expiration date printed on certificate) but which will almost assuredly be extended for another year. There is also a $500 "Regional Discount" ordered by the Dodge Regional Manager to move trucks. It has appeared on several MSRP window stickers that I've downloaded from dealerships in the midwest. It does not exist in every state i the midwest.

There is the Dodge "Route 2003" $500 certificate, for participating in a day of driving Dodge vehicles. You have to sign up in advance on the Dodge website, and the locations are few and far between. The last one I know scheduled for 2003 was July 12th and 13th in Cincinnati, Ohio. The certificate is NOT compatible with the Farm Bureau coupon -- it's one or the other.

There is a rebate for being active duty or retired military. Merely having been in the service for a few years doesn't count. You have to have an active duty military ID card, or show them your DD214 to prove you're retired. This rebate from Dodge IS compatible with Farm Bureau.

There is a student rebate for full-time college students or recent (last two years) graduates. Don't know about compatibility with other discounts or rebates.

There are the Dodge "Commercial" rebates, for people using the truck in business. You have to have a business license or a tax resale number. Along with the "Commercial" program are incentives on accessories. There is a good brochure at the dealers titled "2003 Dodge Commercial," that explains the whole program. It's 8x11, 33 pages. The Commercial rebates are NOT compatible with many of the other rebates, however, in particular Farm Bureau.

There is the "Business-Link" program. Not all dealers are "Business-Link" dealers. A "Business-Link" dealer can (if they wish to) place a particular vehicle in the Business-Link program and put 1,000 miles on it as a "demonstrator," usually by driving it back and forth from home to work for three or four weeks. Then if you qualify as a business or commercial customer who is going to use the vehicle for business, the dealer can sell you the vehicle at the reduced "demonstrator" price. At least two fleet managers told me about this, but didn't have the vehicle I wanted.

Finally, one dealer offered to refund $300. 00 of his commission, but I "dinked around" a little too long and they sold the truck to someone else. My fault.

Also, it's important to find out how long the truck has been on the dealer's lot, because the dealer pays a "toll" or "rent" to the factory for everyday the truck sits there unsold. Sometimes it's referred to as "flooring," i. e. the truck is "on the dealer's floor. " It's taken out of the dealer's profit by Dodge when the truck is finally sold. As one dealer said: "If a truck sits on the lot too long, I may have to sell it at a loss just so I don't lose any more money on it. I look at a fresh truck a lot differently than one that's been sitting around for a while. " More than one fleet manager mentioned this to me in my search for a truck.

The hard thing to find out about is the HIDDEN REBATES that exist within the Dodge factory/dealer sales system -- the things that are not advertised and are unknown to the general public. That's the reason dealers can sell below invoice -- supposedly the price they paid (or will pay) to Dodge for the truck -- and still make a profit. You have to know someone inside the system to get this information.

Dear RD:

Have you found your truck yet? I left Bend, Oregon on Tuesday, Aug. 5th, and Dave Thomas Chrysler Dodge had a large number of 2003 trucks -- between 30 and 50, perhaps more. If you're still looking, call Greg Thiessen, the Flt. Mgr. (888) 783-3031. If you're a Costco member, Thomas Dodge is a Costco affiliated dealer. You have to go on the Costco website first and get a referral. You do that by puting in the Bend, Oregon zip code -- 97701 -- instead of your own, and then puting in your correct phone number.

New Truck

I located a truck at Melton Sales near Tulsa OK. Great price including the rebate. Looks like I'm flying out there next week.

Try Dave Smith Motors in Bartlesville, OK. Great price and better than Melton sales in Claremore, OK.

I grew up in the Tulsa area.

Check with Adrian or Don at Mark Roberts Motors in Bartlesville Oklahoma. First class operation. Best deal I could find anywhere. They also have a fly in drive away arrangement. You can check their inventory at www.markroberts.com You might also tell them that Cop from Missouri sent you. :D

Roberts didn't have many 2wd rigs in stock. Looks like I'm going to Melton next week. Anybody want a free meal? I'd like to have someone look at the truck before I fly out to OK.

I got my deal at Reno Dodge in NV. did everything over the phone and just drove in with check and drove home. Go to Dodge.com, new inventory and go to window sticker.

'03 3500, 48RE, 373, Larime, and the stuff I wanted.

Dave Smith

Couldn't find a Dave Smith in Bartlesville OK, already talked to DS in Kellogg.

Found three trucks similiar to what I need at Lithia of Broken Arrow OK. Found another at Mike Quinn in Tulsa and still another at Quality Motors in Independence KS.

BTW

BTW, I am looking for a 2wd dually CC with the 6-speed trans. My color is red. You know what engine I'm after:)

HVAC:

I took delivery of a 3500 4X2 QC LWB SRW on July 29th at Chaprell Dodge in Ada, Oklahoma. They have A LOT of trucks on their lot (certainly over 50) and are still getting deliveries of 2003s ordered for their own inventory that are still in the pipeline.

They also have a great number of 2-wheel-drives in their inventory, as opposed to Dave Smith of Kellogg who only special orders 4X2s when requested by a specific customer -- everything Smith orders for their own lot inventory is 4X4.

Call Flt Mgr Art Chapman at Chaprell -- (800) 880-2427 -- and see if he has what you're looking for. Chapman had absolutely NO PROBLEM with my 9 page delivery checklist, brought the truck into the service garage for me (it was 105 F outside), put it on a rack (his suggestion, not mine) and detailed a repair tech to assist me and answer my questions -- for 2-1/2 hrs!

In fact, I just looked at the digital photos Chapman sent me of my truck about a week before I picked it up, and there are a couple of red ones in the background. Of course, I have no idea how they're equipped.

New "03

Hey Benson! Ya ol' "sidewinder":D Make yur plans to be at Tulare. I'll look forward to chatting with ya there:cool:

JWChessell, I truly appreciate your heads up regarding the dealer in Ada. I'll check to see if they come up on the Dodge dealer locater. I'll be sure to make a call on Monday too.

I thought I was set with the truck at Melton Sales, but I've found several more rigs better equipped. For instance, I would prefer the anti spin diff, and the upgraded infinity stereo sys as well as the premium drivers seat. I'd like to have the fog lights, the light group, just don't have any use for the leather seats.

Lookin' for a six speed dually 2wd crew cab (not the sport) with everything but leather.

HVAC, yes Chaprell Dodge will come up on the locator and they have quite a few 2WD's with the anti spin. I was checking it out. I may even go for something there. Good luck.
