My friends 2003 5. 9 with jacobs exhaust brake vacuume pump took a crap.

Can I get this through cummins or is it a dealer item? and if you know a part # Thanks Mike

Just checked Cummins QuickServe and it will sell for at least $195. 00 at a friendly Cummins Dealer such as myself. :-laf They must have gone up recently as I checked this summer and they were in the $125. 00 range or so. It still is 3965925 for a part number.

The way parts vendors are dropping out of the game lately you can be assured of increased prices and longer wait times for the next year at least on about any car or truck parts.

This fall the vacuum pump on my jake brake failed for the second time. When I called Cummins, I was told that the price had increased from $108. to almost $200. and to top it off they were on national back-order.
After some research, I found that the vacuum pump from a mid-eighties Ford Diesel Van used a vacuum pump with the same pod as ours. I purchased a reman vacuum pump for a Ford Diesel Van and swapped the new vacuum chamber on the reman for the failed vacuum pod on the jake brake pump. Failure of our vacuum pumps is almost always caused by a torn diaphram or bad check valve. The drive mechanism and mount rarely fail. Price of the reman Ford vacuum pump was $134.

I just checked with the Cummins factory and they have 210 of the vacuum pumps in stock right now. I will assume that the price increase happened when those arrived out there. More money, but at least they have stock on hand. :)
