I just got an engine malfunction light and a p2122 code on a 2003 HO 6 speed. . The truck seems to run fine but I have left it set in the driveway. I can not find a 2003 code list. Can someone please tell me what it is?

I had a code several months ago with some engine sputtering (that quickly went away) but the dealer cleared the code and didn't tell me or remember what it was. Several thousand miles since then with no apparent problems. RBatelle told me how to check the code on this website and I got it this time!

Excellent! Now here's the info you need:

P2122 - Low Voltage Detected at the APP Sensor

Set Condition: The APPS circuit voltage at the ECM goes below 0. 13v for more than 2 seconds. Or, the voltage detected at the PPS 1 circuit was below a calibrated value.

The manual then proceeds with 5 PAGES  of diagnostic tests to be run to determine what the problem is. There are only 3 things that could really be wrong:

1. Fault in the wiring harness between the APPS (Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor) and the ECM.

2. Bad ECM

3. Bad APPS

Of these, number 3 is by far the most likely. Where is your APPS? It's either a large black plastic box on the intake manifold in front of the intake horn or it's under the driver's side battery.

I might be able to help you diagnose the APPS if you want to take the time, but you'll have to PM me because I'll have to email you the relevant pages in the service manuals.

If you don't want to take the time, you'll either have to pay for a new APPS or just live with this code appearing occassionally. I doubt it would actually hurt anything.

Over the weekend I drove the truck with no problems and the engine malfunction light cleared after about 10 starts. I left the truck at the dealer today with my opinion about the apps sensor failure (p2122 code). They checked the sensor and wiring and indicated it was operating normally so they did no repair. They said the repair part (bellcrank and sensor) were about $600, so I did not buy a spare. I picked the truck up after hours so I was unable to get the part number for pricing other places. They did not think the sensor was covered by warranty (truck is 3+ years old and about 60,000 miles). I'll continue to just drive the truck and see if anything else develops. Thanks to Ryan for the heads up and help.
