2004 1/2 trucks question..

Reflash for white smoke,pass side ball joints,now have 65,000 miles. Milage 15 city 19-19. 5 hwy. with 24 ft. camper 13. 5-14 mpg. All hand caculated. I love my truck!Also wonder if used 2003 injectors with smarty thats modified to delet 3rd event , maybe?

This is why I love my 04. No cat, no egr, no third injection, loads of power.


What the heck do you do with the new 07's? Can you strip the exhaust system and get the computer changed to stop the regen?

When you eliminated he 3rd event, i understand how the lose of power and increase in heat can happen.



But did you not also try re-programming all the fuel curves for just one event? Like mimic a VP44 timing curve based one a single event? In theory, this should work just fine since it works find in vp44 and mechanical style pumps.



As far as a performance advantage of going back to a single squirt over multiple, that may be interesting to find out.

I have an 04. 5 close to 100000 miles I had the transfer pump replaced in Gillette Wyo The truck started having the mystery white smoke and funny idle problems that ive heard about with the year model but until I had the truck in for the transfer pump I never had any problems good mpg and power. I drove the truck for about a thousand miles and had the injectors replaced the shop that did it for me said they were not that bad and they reset the computer the truck runs so much smoother and it dosent have the mystery problems that I had for awhile I wonder if some year trucks dont have a progam system problem?

My plan has been to buy a new left over 06 2500 standard cab 2wd to cut down and add a shortbed.

I have one of the early ones and have had no white smoke or injector probs. I do have a black smoke prob when my foot gets a little heavy on the go peddle,thanks Marco. :-laf

I can't believe no one mentioned u-joints!! My truck eats 'em like candy bars. I have had injector problems, but then again I fooled with them. Just did the water pump at 87k mi. , by the way the water pump is VERY easy don't pay someone to do the job.

Darn right I'm stirred up now! :-laf I too had the white smoke / mpg TSB done, but just to see if it would increase the MPG. It worked, went from 15. 5 to 18 mpg hand calc. Haven't had any problems with my CTD.
