Ok... I have searched and read until I am as blue as my truck.



1. Does the 04 HO have a silencer ring to remove?? (I installed the AFE Pro 7 cone filter and torque tube)



2. What turbos are available for an 04? (All I am hearing about is for 03s)



3. Everyone is talking about the down pipe size for the exhaust. Do I need to replace my stock one or is it one of the good ones from the factory??

Yes I believe all still have the silencer ring (not sure about '04. 5, but haven't heard anything different)

'03 and '04 305/555's are identical. So are the trucks with very few differences. In fact I looked at both when I bought mine as a left over '03 and the ONLY difference in the trim package I looked at was the rear seat head rests. There were some other differences depending on what options you wanted i. e. the laramie trim changed, steering wheel changed shape, 48RE control module changed, some grill trim changes depending on model. For all intents and purposes a 305/555 ETH is the same regardless of whether its an '03 or '04.

Any turbo that will work on an '03 will also work on your '04.

Do you need to change your exhaust? No, not with the mods you have now, but I'm sure if you continue bombing, a full 4" system would be of some benefit. Without a box, I wouldn't bother. Check out Ted Janetty's thread on exhaust systems, boost fooling and boxes on a 305/555 and that may shed some more light.

I'll give a try at your questions.



1. I believe so



2. There are some around such as the Piers bomber light. '03 trucks and bombs are compatable with 305 hp '04's. The only major change is in control of the transmission.



3. Your downpipe is fine if you keep it stock. Since your asking about turbos then you may want to consider a 4" downpipe. Banks has it on their system, others may as well. Yours is 3 1/2".



Hopefully this information is somewhat correct.

I can answer #1. They have it, mine don't. Actually, I took it out. Didn't notice much of a difference, but I still have the stock airbox and filter. Soon to change to an aFe.

I am waiting like EVERYONE for the Edge Juice box. I have called Edge and as usual... no answer.



So how do I remove the silencer ring??



I haven't found any pics or info on how... Just that I should remove it.



I am planning on a new exhaust but in one thread, someone said they put back on the 4" down pipe that was factory casue it looked the same as the banks down pipe??? So I wondered if I had that same pipe from the factory.



As for the turbo... I am toying with the idea.



I am getting ready to install gauges but can't find a dash mount pod that will hold 4 gauges. Guess I will get 2 pods that hold 2 gauges each.



I ran my truck at Milan Dragway last week with just the AFE Proguard 7... No torque tube... Ran 17. 285 @ 77mph.



Wanna shoot for the 15s when I am done.



Any help on 2004 specific would be great... Cause sorting out all the 03 and 04. 5 info is rough sometimes.

1. 305/555 yes, 325/600 no.



2. 03/04's are the same. Very few out there, including our Jammer kit. That is setup for 300-500rwhp. New turbo in the works for 500+.



3. An upgraded turbo kit will come with a downpipe (at least ours does).
 
I agree with that on the low rpm scale but I have a place marked off by my house that I use when ever I do something to my trucks (dont know how far it is though). Stock truck ran consistantly 81 mph, intake and exhaust 85 mph, Edge EZ 92mph.
 
Well I am waiting for the EZ Juice box to come out. I swear they are taking FOREVER on that box.



Does anyone have any pics of HOW-TO on removing the silencer ring.



This is my first diesel and first turbo. So I am very new to the location of these parts.



Give me an old school V8 and I can do it blindfolded :)



The plan is to bomb the truck for fun mostly.



I read the DeFueling thread and hope that will be taken care of with the EZ box at some point



I have read ALL the DREADED exhaust thread about the Droan at certain RPMs. I want to install the dual exhaust system from DPP but I am waiting a bit for more reports about it and summer weather for the install.



I installed the Torque Tube and the Turbo is a LOT louder now. I kinda liked the quiet turbo sound better. Don't get me wrong... I love loud exhaust but that high pitched whistle kills the ears.
