Bad to change transmission fluid on higher mileage vehicles???

Finished doing a simple transmission drain and refill with a new transmission filter. While under there, I followed the service manual procedures for adjusting front and rear bands.

After filling with about 5 quarts of new mopar atf-4, the truck will not move in reverse unless I give it a good bit of throttle. Moving forward in Drive seems to be easier. In reverse, it acts like the truck does if in 4wd when there is too much traction and the driveline binds up.

I also drained and refilled the transfer case, but I can't see how that would contribute to the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Figured it out. After going back through what I did in my head, I remembered that I forgot to turn the front band adjustment screw back out 1 3/4 turns. Dum, dum-dum-dum! :-laf

Reverse--all better.
