Hello,

I have done some searching on this site, as to my problem but haven't come up with much so maybe someone can help. I just bought the truck in my sig, and when I got it home it had a rear taillight bulb out, a reverse light out, and drivers side headlight. I replaced all bulbs, and others worked but the headlight was still out. I checked all fuses, no problems. What do I do next? How do I check or diagnose that? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have also had headlight problems. Try removing the FCM from the fender side of the power dist. center and cleaning the contacts. I also had to tweak each of the top row of connector pins to make proper contact

Can we assume that you checked the bulb with an ohm meter and checked the pigtail with a voltmeter... . and you understand that your fingers can leave chemicals(oils) on the bulb that can shorten its life... you should never touch the glass with your fingers. .

If you've done all the above first... . than your forced to follow the trouble shooting chart in the manual...

Headlight diagnosis...

Thanks for the quick replies, I should have wrote that yes, I did check the bulb with ohm meter, and the finger oil thing, etc. Only thing I didn't check was voltage at plug in. I should do that first, but thanks for the service manual link, that will also be a great help, I will have to check the connections on that FCM too. I will keep you guys updated to let you know what the problem is, because here in NY I need the headlight working in order for it to pass inspection.

update...

I checked the voltage output from the bulb plug again and on the outside terminal (drivers side) I got a fluctuating voltage from 3. 0-5. 0 volts. Center terminal on the plug gave me no voltage. Other outside terminal (closest to the grille) gave me a solid 3. 5 volts.

I forgot to mention originally that the high beam works, just no low beam.

Anyhow I did check the voltage at the plug, on high beam, now outside terminal (drivers side of plug) got a solid 3. 7 volts, middle terminal, no voltage, then other outside terminal (closest to grille), I got a fluctuating voltage of 3. 0-5. 0 volts.

I checked the ohm reading of the bulb and got about . 2 ohms no matter which two terminals.

What should I try next? Does this mean that the FCM is making a good connection?

Fixed!!...

Thanks to all who had responded, I finally bent the top row of connections on the FCM to make a better connection, and that fixed the problem. Thanks alot!!
