Will I lose Sirius if I remove factory head unit?

Does AMSOIL "Severe Gear" have the friction Modifier ALREADY in it?

Hey Folks,

I was wondering what you 2004. 5 owners are getting for MPG. I am getting on average 12 MPG with a 50/50 of city and HWY. . My buddy with a 2005 is getting 18!!! Should there be that big a difference...

My 04. 5 was getting 23 empty hwy, 18-19 around town, and 15 hwy pulling a large horse trailer. ALL STOCK, hand calculated. My new 06 gets about same around town empty but about 13 pulling the same trailer... the 04. 5 was a 2500 and the 06 is a 3500 SRW.

From one Rhino to another in Illinois, my 2004 305/555 4x4 3500 SRW gets around 18 in town, between 15 and 21 on the highway depending on how hard I push it. I have always wondered why trucks that are pretty much the same get wildly varying fuel mileage. Mine has 4. 10 gears, so that is a factor. As long as I keep the RPM's under 2000, I get good mileage.

Man mine sucks bad... It's actually at the dealer now and I am hoping they can figure out why its so bad. I told them to check for a flash update and to check the injectors. Maybe they can figure it out... :( :(

18. 2 all round driving I see the manual trucks getting 2-3 mpg better than the autos as a general rule.

So I just got off the phone with the dealer and they can't find anything wrong! (suprise suprise). They told me to put in a new fuel filter. LOL Anyone have any ideas?

Rhinod,

When I first got the truck in June of 2004 with 141 miles on it (it was a dealer trade and my truck came from a dealer in CT) I was getting 12+ around town and an even 15 highway bobtail. Towing, was about 9 to 10+.

I was thinking, "What in the h#$% have I done to myself.

With 48K on the truck I now get 21 highway, 17 around-town and 15 towing my Wildcat 29RLBS.

I know every drop of fuel that's gone into the truck and the mileages are hand calculated. BTW, when I'm getting 21 over-the-road hand calculated, the display says 23 mpg.

For a 7,500 lb truck, that ain't bad, pardner. Oo.

I averaged between 15 and 17mpg when new... could squeak 20 out when new...

Now, I average 17mpg in 50/50 mixed driving. I can get 23mpg with good fuel and driving under 60mph... but that's with some mods. And that's a 6spd with 4. 10s...

Did they check for a TSB for poor mileage??? There is one for the 04. 5s and it did help mine...

Well I am pushing 40,000 miles and its got worse since I bought it. I was getting 14-15 hand calculated now like I said I am lucky to get 12. When I get the truck back, on go the gauges, AFE and smarty program. We will see what happens to the MPG...

I just bought my 04. 5 a month ago with 74K on it. I'm averaging 12-14 with a 50/50 city/highway split (hand calculated). Highest I have seen mine was 18. 3 on a 200 mile trip at 70 mph unloaded. Haven't had a chance to tow with it yet to see what the mileage will be. But this truck definitely gets 2-3 mpg less than my '99 did.

I haven't calc'd mine since the FTV kit. I have the stats, just haven't broken it down. I should do that tonight and post results. I'm pretty sure it's higher than what's been posted. I'll have to wait till I get home though.

my 04. 5 for the last tank got 18. 89mpg... with the calculator, mostly highway, some around town... all empty... if pure town driving it get right at 14 and towing hiway 14-15 if I don't get too carried away with speed.

I'm lucky to get anything close to 18. On one trip out to the west coast I averaged close to 19. All around driving I usually get around 16. I did get the Quadzilla XZT and haven't seen much of a mileage increase, but I did get a little extra get up and go. I recently got new tires and went up to 285's. I'm sure this makes a little difference in my calculations. Does anyone know how much my odometer and speedometer are off going up to 285's from 265's?
