Hey I was installing a ATS exhaust manifold last night when I realized that the turbo has a threaded rod that goes to the turbine side that connects to something that looks similar to a bighead waste gate by banks. it also has a electronic device built that is installed on the compressor side of the turbo. The sticker on the side of the head says 325HP/600LbFT. also the Date of manufacture indicates its a 2004. 5 cuz its built in 3-2004. engine change came in january 1st of 2004 to meet new emmisions regulations. I talked to the guy at banks in tech support who really knew his stuff as I have delt with him before and he told me that the bighead waste gate doesn't work on the stock turbo cuz they got rid of the mechanical stuff and went electronic. But it appears that I can install a bighead wastegate on this turbo this turbo cuz it has some electronic thing that has a vacuum hose (or similar looking hose) that runs to a mechancial diaphram that can plung in and out to control the wastegate housing.

What do yal think??? Is it a turbo that slipped the cracks when the heat from the inspectors calmed down some 3 months later after january 1st. or do you think that I was told wrong by banks that the watse gate actuator wont work? or do you think the previous owner that used the truck as a daily driver/work truck had the dealer install a new turbo for some reason??? Records indicate he was at the dealer between 2 and 3 thousand miles regularly getting service done. The previous owner during his 1. 5 years of owning never caught onto the whole diesel performance thing.

If i can i want to run the banks bighead waste gate actuactor.

I think you need to call your spaceship and have them take you back home.

can some one post pics of their 2004 turbo and someone post pics of thier2005 turbo??? i will tell u which one is on my truck.

That holset model is an HE 351 I think and that electronic thing is an electronic wastegate command control valve, your ECM can signal to the valve and allow higher boost pressures under certain conditions as determined by the ECM. Jay

You have the stock tubo on your truck. I woldn't bother with the big head, don't think you would see any gain with it.
