2004.5 vs. 2004½

Heres a neat trick-if you want to say 2004½ instead of 2004. 5... hold down the Alt key and type 171 on the keypad-that will insert the ½ at the point where the cursor is. The Num Lock has to be on-if the key pad is being used for "navigation" it won't work.

Just checked with the kids, they even knew that alt 753 would put up the ± sign. I just can't seem to know anything before they do.

Plus there is so much I do know that I wish I didn't. Or don't need to know, e. g. I'll show my grandkids how to work a sliderule, that'll impress them!! Or how about a tune-up complete with points, plugs, and set the dwell and timing:-laf

i have a windows program called character map that shows all these for the different fonts. the program name is Charmap. exe many of you might have it installed on your computer if you have win95. i don't think it is on win 98 or newer [i use 98, but copied the program from my old pc which had 95]
